The issue is the lifters wear and will stick in the collapsed position. You have all the same components in your engine, it's just missing some wiring and the computer is not programmed to actuate it...

It's a complete flush of the old transmission fluid and replacement with an updated, correct fluid. If that doesn't fix it, you have to replace the torque converter.
