Folks are really making this more complicated than it has to be. Is the Camaro SS a match for a base Mustang GT? It would appear so. Is the Camaro SS a match for a Brembo equipped Mustang with the 3.73:1 gears? No.

The base GT without the brembo package(mainly for the tires) and the gear will be at a slight disadvantage compared to the SS. The GT with the brembo package(again mainly for the tires) and gear will have a slight advantage over the SS. Either way it will be a drivers race. |

Also, the Car and Driver review has the SS beating the Mustang Brembo equipped Mustang with 3.73 gears in the 1/4 mile. I'd have to completely disagree with you and agree with Sax up there. He has a more realistic view based on the reviews. |

as I don't think U have ever been in a street race let alone on a track, because 2/10ths... in the 1/4 Mile is a LIFETIME if U have ever raced for Drinks, Pinks, or Panties (It was a helluva night )The fact that the Mustang had All Seasons on is damn near negated by the fact the Camaro has 20 inch, heavier wheels. Let's not also forget that the Camaro is 200+ lbs heavier basically due to the fact that it's almost in a different size segment altogether. BTW.. if U care to READ... instead of trying to "Court" me.. U might have seen that my EXACT Quote was : Quote:
Motivation for me would be LOOKS, PERFORMANCE, WOW Effect, and Engine Reliability. The Mustang's Engine is to new for me to know about it's durability., It looks like DoG Poop in every form except the GT500, and while it's performance is sweet... it's about as eye catching as a watching Rosie O'Donnel walk around topless at the beach. OK.. BAD example.. because it would be eye catching.. but in a BAD WAY:(POINT Is... I didn't contradict myself at all.. U just didn't READ |

Some of the crying about the 200+ lb weight difference, 20 inch wheels, lack of gearing, lack of track pack, etc... is sad.
These tests will never be "fair". The only thing you can go off is what you can get from the factory for the Stang and the SS. I don't hear you guys saying the race isn't fair because the Chevy has 1.2 more liters. |

No wonder U Ford fans are such in an upheaval right now. Ford STARVED U of any real juice for so long. When the Camaro LEFT in 2002 it had 330HP for GODSAKE. IN 2002!!!

I apologize if I come off as harsh. But when and where I came up... "Survivor" wasn't a TV Show.. it was reality... and Barney the Purple Dinosaur would have gotten his ass kicked on a regular basis. I guess what I'm trying to say is that America has gotten SOFT... and it's people to sensitive |

And in 2003 the mustang had 420-430hp. What is your point?
Ford improved the GTs even without the direct competition of a Camaro. Ford starting offering a 500hp+ Mustang without the direct competition of the Camaro. I will say with the Camaro coming back Ford started going a little more radical. |
