Pray tell, how much more proof do you need from him? How many cars have YOU put on a lift? Do you lift 5-10 Camaros a day? Do you take the classes and certifications? Do you have 15, 20, 30, 40+ years working as a tech putting cars on lifts? I mean I get that people want to be safe and protect their investment, but you'll find that most good techs aren't as dumb as people make them out to be. The good ones know what they're doing. There's probably ZERO Chevy dealers that lift from pinch welds. So get over it. You take your Camaro to the Dealer, unless you specify or they use a drive on which is common for oil changes and similar jobs, it's getting lifted as seen above. That's all.

Many posted just how WRONG this lift method is when those pics were posted.

There are numerous threads in the Camaro6 non ZL1 forum. Here is one. http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433703

One had a video that specifically said that that back area is not designed to hold the weight of the car.

Good news is he was lucky enough to not crush the rockers (barely cleared the lift arm), and more.

Those giant slots in the rockers are to lift at the welded seam.

Put a set of these on and instruct service advisor to add note on warranty ticket.

“At least a few every other day.”

Do you take the classes and certifications? Do you have 15, 20, 30, 40+ years working as a tech putting cars on lifts?

“Yes, to certification classes and yes to seminars and even teaching classes and workshops. I passed my first ASE exam and certification 35 years ago.”

“ A large percentage of performance cars we work on which have been to dealers, quick lubes and tire retailers have some damage from improper lifting procedures. “

I use the ZL1 Adons for my personal Cars as they facilitate quick tire changes at the track.

...just used the ZL1 AddOns JackPads this morning. (Have the longer set for the front and smaller (mustang) for the rear). Works great on my 4-post lift with the sliding jack. I also used a white marker to strike a line on the rocker right next to where the jackpad w/slidepuck will go so there is no question how they line-up.

I'm not sure if my dealership has a drive on lift. Even though I bought the ZL1 jack pads, i'll have them use the drive on lift if they have one.

the $80 bucks are worth the piece of mind of having the pinch welds protected.

The Addons will be good for when you get new tires too.
