Geeze, that's a really crappy design. "Lets put some wiring harnesses right next to a moving belt driven system." Engineering skills. :/
I hope they issue a recall for you guys, even if its something as minor as adding a zip tie to move it slightly. Still, that must be kind of unnerving if it were to ever shift around, plus the general fact that if you ever needed the engine serviced, a mechanic could end up undoing the fix very easily. |

May just be the angle, but it looks closer than an inch? (the blue and yellow wires and such)

Looks like 3 wires:
Purple, Blue, and yellow/black That would work for a Hall effect sensor which has: 1) Signal 2) Signal ground 3) reference voltage |

Well my car was throwing codes P0011, and P2088. Took it to the dealer to read the codes, then sent pics of them to @slick3. He sent me this thread and what do you know....my belt was rubbing as well. Currently trying to contact the dealer to get a resolution in place.

FWIW to this thread I checked my 16 SS A8 and this wire is nowhere near the belt.

Yep lol. The service advisor started reading the codes and i was like oh no (my G8 had some electrical issues that forced me to trade the car in). Thankfully I was able to assess the real cause. They probably would've replaced the solenoid (p2088) and then tried to figure out what else was wrong.

![]() I wish I didn't forget to add a poll to the OP so we would be able to tell how frequent is this issue.
