I daily my Camaro and I agree with you that it's difficult to take it easy. I guess it's lucky for me that there's a fair amount of traffic during my daily commute. If the roads were wide open it might be more difficult.

It's almost 2 years since I bought it and I still love it. Usually, I get tired of a new to me car fairly quickly, but it hasn't been that way.

Plus, there is a host of nice upgrades you can consider at that point, which would feel like getting a new car each time with way more power. Sure, the 2017 won't have all the gizmos and the ginormous screens that newer cars flaunt, but that's not always a bad thing.
This is true…

I think that is what I will try to convince myself to do. I’ve got a few more years before I can retire… too bad you can’t get on Medicare until 65…LOL. If it wasn’t for health care my butt would be retired now.

mine is sitting at about 63k miles, and sees about 200 miles a week commuting all year, and i love it...it always feels special. granted, sometimes it feels like a waste when traffic is really congested but that's probably because i'm miserable in anything when there's a lot of traffic. i drive it everywhere in just about any weather. really hoping to do some bigger road trips with it in the coming years. love hopping into it after a long day at work, putting the windows down, and letting the V8 thunder along.

i purposely chose an LT1 to keep the car as basic as possible for ease of maintenance and less complexity, and wanted the fluids to get up to temp easily. its basically a total stripper outside of a sunroof and the NPP exhaust, which is fine with me. it'll stay mostly stock, as it sits now its more than enough to get plenty stupid on the street. probably a super unpopular opinion here but i don't know if i'll bother to go with wider tires any time soon, its really entertaining to be able to kick the tail out a little here and there with a lower grip limit. maybe just softer performance tires will be enough.

yeah the paint has some chips and battle scars, the doors are too damn long, and the trunk opening is silly. but that's a small price to pay to smile every day in my opinion.

My wife says I should hang on to it for a few more years because I’ll be retiring soon and I will have more time to get it out and go play.
I'd consider storing it. Or just keep doing what you're doing. That thing may be worth a good chunk of change one day with that mileage.

I got an LT1 for similar reasons (K.I.S.S. approach). I thought having more do-dads could be asking for trouble (more stuff to go with wrong). I also don't have a lot of faith in USA-made car reliability from past experience (sorry).

Wider wheels/tires are worth it for handling (curvy roads, road course, auto x, etc.) and for driving without TCS/ESC - It transforms the car. Don't worry, it will still be REALLY easy to hang the a** out.

same here...coming from the world of hondas and subarus i felt like simplicity would possibly buy me an easier long term experience, particularly with electronic systems.

i love to hit the corners and can definitely feel the limitations there, so i'll keep your feedback in mind...although i think i'd want to go with a square setup to maintain my tire rotation ability and a bit more front grip. and there's no denying it would get off the line easier with more width in the back too.

I daily mine. Bought it November 1st last year. So far I've put 11,300 miles on it. I love it but hate that the miles are racking up.

my 40 mi/day are almost all interstate, and my average is 25mpg. nearly identical to my last car, a 2010 Civic Si! modern DI engines are amazing.

obviously in town that drops fast, but when i bought this thing i knew what i was in for and budgeted accordingly. if i was going to be in heavy stop/go traffic i would have looked at either a different car or different work situation lol.

I hated watching that too.. I think I'm over it now, though. I just think, miles are superficial, as long as I do my best to keep it in good shape visually/mechanically. It's not like I have any plans to sell this car.

She's approaching 20,000KM, and will be our 2 year carriversary in 2 weeks (Yes I'm buying a damn cake for us. We're in love, leave us alone )

Ha ha! Agreed, and almost 2 years here as well, with 16k miles. The only thing I don't like about it is the property tax in my state. It's like buying the car again every year, almost.

Ironically, if I feel the need to save gas money I now drive my Camaro. I used to daily a hybrid but I daily a truck now haha. Fortunately I don’t drive that much. It’s about $100 every 4 weeks to fill up my truck.

My 2017 will be 9 years old next month. Got it August 15 of 2017. I'm about to turn 95K miles. We have two cars but don't always go in the same direction so I drive it a lot. Also made three trips to CamaroFest. I've had a few problems but still happy with it. It's even more fun since I've been retired for years.
