I do love the new instrumentation, I love the Stang seats and that 10 speed is enticing.
We also don't know what PP2 will bting to the table, constant or price wise. I imagine it'll be in the same pricr range as thr 1LE package's $6500. Some think PP2 will cost as much as a base GT350, but you have to keep in mind that it isn't stacked a top GTPP. The Recaros will probably still be optional and not standard, but that's not too big of a deal. The real bad part is that PP2 wont be available till lat in MY18.

Your S550 experience agrees with what I've seen in the real world. There was a stock-looking S550 at the strip, stick, and he ran best of low 13s at 110. My stock '17 SS with auto same night, 12.1@113. Give the 'stang 2~3 tenths handicap for the transmission and it's still way off the Camaro.

The upgrades to the 2018 Mustang should make it closer, but the idea that it's actually going to beat the existing SS is a stretch.

And it still was barely able to eek out an advantage. Now handing an ass over is what the Camaro did to the Mustang in 16, lol!! I mean, it isn't even close by any stretch of the imagination.
That's funny, I owned a 5th gen and 3 different Coyote cars. the 5th gen was far slower than the coyotes at my sea level track and I was never beat in my stock Mustangs by any 5th gen the whole 3 years I raced them there. I ran a 12.7 my first time out on factory tires with less than 500 miles and traction control and all the nannies left on. all the S197's needed to run low low 12's and high 11's was a tune and a set of drag radials. there's a reason they are currently holding in value and hard to find..

They were definitely faster than than the S550. Maybe the 18 refresh is enough to put performance back where it should be. I still don't think the GT PP will beat an SS. Closer for sure but the GT needs to lose weight and I bet it gains another 100 pounds

speed is meanigless if the car handles like a pos..

who in their right minds judges a car purely on it's zero to 60...the s197 and s550 are both junk..
neither can handle 60hp safely let alone 400

he Stratstone Jaguar dealership has moved to within walking distance of my house. I'm going to walk over there today and ask about the new 300hp Ingenium XE.

Why? Because the two wiring loom recalls (one for either side of the engine), Ford screwing up my oil filter, the breakdown and bad wing-mirror light make it four times I've had to bring it to the shop.

Now we can make that five. Got on the floor, looked under the car. Coolant is dripping out of it. Again.

I am so far done with this car. 16 months old tomorrow. Just 16 months. I'll let some other poor schmuck deal with this nonsense.

another s550 owner lol.

.joke of a car...you wait untill your warranty expires on these s550's and you have to have your car ripped apart to repair the ac..
everytime i drove mine it felt like something was gonna break.

even if the new s550 does zero to 1000mph in 1 second i still wouldn't want it

Regardless you posted it but more to the Mustang Camaro debate. I have owned Mustang's and Camaro's beginning in 1977 when things were REALLY bad and I have never one time experienced anything near what you claim to have experienced with a Ford product.

I owned a 1997 Camaro SS bought new, 1500 miles and a rear main leak, GM wanted to pull the motor and fix it, I refused, they replaced the car with another 1997 Camaro SS (new) and after 5,000 miles same issue, come to find out it was a common issue with the 1996-1997 Camaro SS's.

I got rid of the car bought a new Mustang with the 4.6, never 1 issue, and after that I drove Mustang's pretty much exclusively mainly because of price but since then I have owned 2012 GT, 2013 2015 and now a 2017, Camaro SS and not one issue with them.

So my point is they GM & Ford make great cars and I dont see the need to constantly in every thread you make a comment in you knock the Mustang (and thats your right) but maybe your doing that to make yourself feel good that you dont like the Mustang for other reasons besides build quality and how it runs.

Ford has built and sold the Mustang non-stop, unlike GM since 1964 1/2 so they must be doing something right regardless of what you say.

Being seasick sucks, we all make mistakes buying and selling these cars, its gonna happen. I had a 1LE that I loved but sold just for a cheaper payment a couple of years ago and I still dont understand why I did it but im not going to bitch and moan about 1LE's.

The Coyote motor is a GREAT motor and in fact so good that GM has to use the 6.2 just to beat it. GM couldnt touch a Coyote with their 5.3 motor.

And to your point about how they drive, I think across the line of GM cars, not just Camaro's that Chevy's have always driven a little better than a Ford, but im not exactly sure why.

Sorry but the gap was huge. Bolt on 5.0s were faster than cammed LS3s stock forget it not even close. The 5th Gens were dogs. I remember after I bought the car and was on my way home from the dealership I stomped the gas and said where the hell is the claimed hp. My 2012 5.0 and 392 made the LS3 feel like a petrified turd. Good thing that was remedied in 2016.

Feel doesn't equal performance numbers.. We're talking stock for stock.. There was barely a difference. The difference between the 6th gen cars so far is larger.

Technically Ford changed to OHC after being unable to match the LT1 in the 90s. And eventually had to switch to DOHC to match the LS1 (which it didn't but that's another story). GM chose not to spend money on OHC V8s which means you have to use more displacement. It's not a question of matching or which is better, it's a question of cost. Ford ate the coat early. GM chose not to.
