Love the optional digital gauge cluster.

So it'll 0-60 the hell outta the GT350R? LOL!!

As it should, it has a 10 speed auto.

I like the paper numbers and I like the upgrades in general along with the looks.. I just hope it significantly drives better than a 15-17 which to me feels more like a Midsize sedan than a performance car.

it is way way more difficult to get advertised mustang acceleration numbers. Definitely have to have all the conditions just right in order to hook up.

The camaro you can literally just stop the gas pedal with the traction control on and get very close to advertised numbers.

In a real world stop light race, the camaro will win almost every time.

More power is not going to help the 0-60 much in the stang (under normal everyday driving conditons)

5 more hp than SS? I guess it's all over now for Camaro. The party's over. So sad.

My hope is that this competition goes long enough for us to see a SS with 500 HP in gen7.

I hope its not enough but glad to see Ford doing something. The GT has been outclasses the last few years. Can't wait to see a H2H and am hopeful they will do a track comparison rather than omitting it (like last time) to avoid a slaughter.

That 10 speed made big improvements for the Mustang, just like I said it would. Also, the engine is likely making better TQ under the curve, although not like the LT1.

No surprise to me that the Mustang is now basically on equal footing with the Camaro. We've seen the Camaro tested under 4.0 also, so they are the same in 0 - 60 folks.

Last comparison we'll wait for is how does she drive? Does it handle and feel like the alpha based Camaro? I think that will be a taller order for Ford to match.

Agreed, I think the revised S550 will definitely be a better match all around for the Camaro. But I think handling wise edge will still go to Camaro.

In the game of bolt ons. The stang will probably creep away now. I'm more curious how all this power translate for the everyday driver. With drag strip mode (launch control?) they'll be hitting a lot more consistent number from the dig.

What improvements are you talking about? 0-60 tuned mode/traction settings time? How else will it improve it? Besides on the track if this is the same transmission the ZL1 gets. It will not beat the SS in 1/4 mile and everything else.

ULTRAZLS1 07-24-2017 03:47 PM

Hmmm. Little less than I was expecting.

Should be a really close race.

Brigante 07-24-2017 04:51 PM

Now the stang is as quick as the 6th gen, if not quicker. Plus it looks better. Profit.
The gt500 will bury the zl1 in every freakin' aspect. Probably expect for handling, but who really gives a damn about it.
The upcoming 19' camaro must get some serious visual changes, otherwise we're ucked, till the 7th gen.
P.s. Few years ago I was waiting for the 6th gen so much, who knew that they would release the ugliest camaro ever...
