Great news.

It's great to have someone with with the knowledge as well as the right contacts to push this issue forward!

I appreciate the kind words guys. The talk I had with the engineers went as well as anyone could hope, but let's not celebrate a victory yet.

Specifically, what we discussed was a minimal amount of wheel slip at low speeds causing excessive spark timing to be pulled. Until we get logs and the tuning engineers get the chance to review them, we won't know what GM's response is going to be. (Unofficially, from what I gathered, they already have an idea of the cause and are willing to fix it once confirmed by the logs.)

I think most of us believe the gentle takeoff problems and launching problems are related, but there's simply no way for us average folks to know for sure at this point.

I certainly feel we're on the right track, and the engineers seem eager to help so hopefully with a little time and patience we'll get this resolved.

Thanks for talking with the engineers, Travis. If you get a chance, take one out on the drag strip for some launches.Nothing like some seat time to go with the "electronic data."

I think GM engineering/QC should hand Travis a job offer. Well done!

If your username isn't listed and you have experienced issues with unexpected timing pulls/bogging with the '17 ZL1 that go beyond what you'd consider normal, please post your experience/observations and I'll get your name added.

I plan to show this list to the Chevrolet reps at Camaro Fest to help give some credence to the issue. Hopefully this will be useful for them in prioritizing the investigation into the problem.

(And of course, if I've somehow misunderstood your post(s) and you'd like your username removed, I'd be happy to do that as well.)
You can add me also. I am getting frustrated with this aspect of the ZL1. To the point of me just getting back from looking at Hellcats. Hopefully there is some kind of fix because I do like this car but want it to perform like a 650HP car from a dig.

@travislambert

You can add me to list. I've experienced it as well. Haven't tried launch control in track yet but other settings and several normal takeoffs from red light have had car bogg more than expected.

I was driving around in track mode a few days back when cwebster indicated he hadn't experienced it in that mode. The issue did seem like it was still there to me. However, when I started off today, the mode naturally resets from track straight to touring. I left it in touring for the short ride and the issue seemed to be completely nonexistent.

I went back to sport mode and made a few stop and goes through the neighborhood. In sport it is still clear as day. Going back to touring, again, almost nonexistent.

Thought I'd ask the group for a consensus just to make sure it isn't me learning how to compensate for the issue, versus the issue not being there.
As I suspected, I may have started to compensate for these issues. Though that may not be a complete act futility at the moment. I may have found something that works with relatively repeatable success.

My typical method of driving a manual car typically involves a "blip" in the accelerator with a gradual reduction in accelerator depression in an amount equal to the rate of clutch release up until the point of full engagement. Then at that point gradually reapplying the desired amount of accelerator. Right or wrong for daily driving that's been my style.

What I've been having more success than failure with in the ZL1 over the last couple of days is starting with the accelerator blip, but then holding it at the desired position, roughly 1K RPM give or take (still working on the right number), then beginning the clutch release throughout, maintaining the constant position of the accelerator.

I've only done this a few times over the last day or so, so I'm still trying to determine the rate of success with this method, or whether it's completely random. Also still trying to nail down the right RPM for this method.

Thoughts? Anyone else able to give this a shot?
