I was mainly referencing the leaking intercooler reservoirs a few have had, missing kit parts, and poorly fitting parts that need to be modified. That and sub-par instructions on a kit like this is just not acceptable to me. It just seems to me that this kit wasn't quite ready for prime time. I think the head units are sound and this was likely a fluke or even install mistake, but it just seems like Whipple hasn't quite figured out how to manufacture and sell OEM quality plug & play kits like Magnuson has. It's a kick ass head unit, but I just feel like the R&D stage was only 75% finished. I just feel Whipple needs to try a little harder. That's all. |

I'd really like to know what caused the rotor damage on the OP's car. Because that is really scary. I saw some others with noise concerns, so fingers crossed that this was an isolated problem. |

Till I see otherwise, I think that this is a very technical install and you need a shop that installs superchargers on a regular basis to install it. I have had ZERO issues with my Whipple and it was installed by Whipple dealer in Rochester, NY.

Broken heat exchanger was done by a pro... does a pro need instructions telling them to not over-torque a bolt crushing a radiator? Common sense should prevail there. Forgot that was done by a pro shop.... My install was done by a pro who has done superchargers. The most technical aspect of the build is the file you flash to the computer... that takes the real in-depth know how, coding that tune. This whole kit is ultimately a F-in bolt on with hoses and fittings. The worst part really is taking the fascia off and all that, damper, belts... yeah thats the harder part of the install... I would say pulling the stock damper off and getting the new hub on was probably the worst part. The rest is easy once you can translate the *Whipplese* in the instructions LOL. I think 3 hours could have been saved if each step actually referred to the actual shipping part # vs what they called it internally. Put things in the right place, torque to spec, follow instructions, go through the steps again, and once more (check all your work which we did) and tune. Everything was spot on in my build and I had a pro install it that knew what he was doing. I'm happy your's went well but just because Brett and I have hiccups doesn't mean we can't read English either. I will agree about the aspect that the instuctions suck A$$ as we followed at first, revisions better but still out of whack photos that were out of sync from the current install step. Come on man! If I did something wrong do you think Whipple would have shipped me a new one free and clear? Something was wrong. I wouldn't change a fkn thing because after this is done I know about 100x more than I knew about wrenching than before and I got to hang out with a great friend who taught me a ton along the way. UPDATE: New unit shipped out Friday can't wait. Friend is booked until weekend after this one and we are pulling heads for piece of mind flushing them and the cyl walls. Probably one more weekend of solid work. Left head looks like the most work as a lot is bolted to it. We got the right valve covers removed and everything is clean nothing in there. A little alum did get in intake but I'm pretty confident in the way this occurred at idle.. vs out on the road hitting it hard that the situation is better than worse. Pulled oil pan and oil is clean. |

Yep Rob, you hit the nail on the head. No disrespect Cooden, but a monkey could install one of these SCs. You don't need a degree. I can do one now without the toilet paper (oops, manual, I get them confused) In a day now. As long as the core is good. Joe blow would say mine is fine (and it is) But unexceptable to me. (but then again I'm ANAL) I'll fix mine RIGHT, with, or without Whipple. WHY???? Cause I can...LOL
