Can someone show a picture or video of what you all are doing for the fix? I hear wind noise but I just assume it's the actual wind outside.

If someone could post a photo of what they taped up that would be super helpful. Currently I'm getting the run around with the dealer. They could reproduce the issue and told be there was nothing they could do to help. Had to basically screenshot the chat with GM saying they can open a TAC for it. All this is topped off with 50 miles on my car which I am super unhappy about. Blow me off and joy ride my car, I really expect better. Going back Monday to talk with the service manager.

The taping off is not a fix, it's just to confirm the mirror assembly is the culprit at least in my case. If you tape over the "hole" between the mirror and the assembly, magically the whistle\wind noise will go away. Yet a Chevrolet dealership can't figure out how to do that and realize they need to replace the assembly.

Oh yeah this is just to point at the taped off area (if it fixes the noise) while standing in front of service manager, and go the noise comes from there, fix. I honestly already suggested taping and test driving and the service guy looked at me like I was dumb. So that's my project for the weekend

Is this where you tapped the mirror up to test?

The excessive wind noise is not normal, After 4 or so attempts the mirror was removed and the same mirror reinstalled, noise is gone.
It seems that if the mirror assembly is loosened there is enough play that if retightened the noise goes away. This is the best way I can try to explain my experience with this. The dealer did all the work. They have been great. They have been frustrated chasing this down too.

Can someone please confirm where to put the tape to test this? I taped up half my driver's door and side mirror last weekend still heard the noise...

I put the tape right on the front face of the mirror. That open area all around the mirror that allows it to move in all directions and the noise stopped.

Thanks! Putting tape around the gap between the mirror and mirror housing completely got rid of the whistling sound. I would have never guessed that the noise was coming from there.

I wonder if there's something that can be done to permanently fix this without having to get a whole new mirror assembly under warranty? Can the mirror alone be removed without taking the mirror housing (and door panel) off?

Hey can you tell me if this was just the mirror or the entire mirror housing that was replaced? Thanks!

I was a little hesitant also to bring this in for warranty repair but I eventually made a appointment and told them the mirror was defective. I'm showing the mechanic next Monday. As long as it's defective they will replace it! The mirror itself can be removed. Someone had a thread on here on how to remove the mirror. There are no pins holding it in place. It's just a pop on and pop off. Really easy to remove.

Had the wind noise issue since day one. Had to take the drivers side mirror out for an unrelated issue, after we put it back in the noise went away. I think the factory torque specs are off and its just not being tightened enough. Same mirror, no tape, just tighter.

Tighter is always better
