In other words, there are probably at least some customers who would have otherwise purchased a '16, but after the '17 1LE announcement decided to wait.

Just like now, people are going to wait for the '18 ZL1 1LE and not buy a '17 ZL1... Incentives are on the horizon.. and incentives cause depreciation.
The market for a $45k l1e camaro and what I'm guessing will be around a $70k camaro are totally different. With the ss 1le , you gain a lot of options over the standard ss that you can enjoy everyday without really giving up anything, so there was a valid reason to wait there.

It really sounds as if you're just looking for others to chime in and express their agony along with you because in your eyes, GM played you. I disagree, but you feel how you feel, so thats totally your prerogative. Something tells me that had GM waited until the summer to make this announcement (well after you took delivery of your standard A10), you'd cry foul there too because you would have wanted GM to at least have given you the option between buying the '17 or waiting for latest and greatest 1le '18 to arrive. Again, this car appeals mainly to 2 groups...1, those who crave to have the baddest, most expensive zl1 in the lineup or 2, those m6 buyers who haven't pulled the trigger yet and actually plan are really tracking this thing to fully exploit all of what is being paid for...even though most of us casual track rats aren't even capable of doing so. I think the A10 guys are really stoked about it's performance and ease of daily usability, so most of them will probably stick with their original plan of action. Sure, there will be a few converts, but I highly anticipate they will be strongly in the minority. Since I'm not an A10 guy, any a10 guys feel free to correct me if my assumptions are off.

Still thinking, there's a lot to consider.

But yes - no regrets either way. It's a great time to be a Camaro enthusiast, that's for sure!

The 2018 ZR1 corvette may be coming with 750HP, they could put the ZR1 motor in the Camaro and call it the Z28.

I was actually glad some folks chimed in and disagreed with me. The comments about the rough ride of DSSV were especially helpful. I'm still torn about canceling my order, but I appreciate the different perspectives as long as they're expressed in a civil way. I'm sorry if it came off as if I was trying to round up an angry mob.

If GMs announcement were delayed until summer I think it would have been more expected and therefore a little easier to swallow. As it sits right now, they took deposits from hundreds of people, they haven't even fulfilled the first major wave of orders, and they announce oh BTW we have a faster Camaro. That seems like a pretty crappy way to do business IMO.

Per Al O., unless it's naturally aspirated it has no chance of bearing the Z28 badge.

This is exactly my sentiments. It has nothing to with the car but rather the timing of this announcement. I can't imagine the Corvette team doing this to their installed base. I'm not sure why the Camaro team thought announcing now was such a great idea. I personally think it's going to come back to bit them.

You guys get mad because Chevrolet keeps giving us options? Don't be ridiculous most of you wouldn't want the bare bones beast nor would you forego the a10. The 6 speed is the better track car period faster around most courses... that was known. Now the track beast is here and unless you're driving some serious track days the regular Zl is more then enough

I have said repeatedly in the thread it was the timing of the announcement not the fact that GM is upping their game. I don't know how to be more clear.

I guess it depends on where you are coming from at the time of the announcement.

If a person had just purchased a manual '17 in June, and then read the news....that person will be equally shocked/upset as you are, now.

You can't please 100% of people 100% of the time.

On a slightly related topic...
I've been doing transmission ratio calcs...and this new top gear thing should be a consideration for anyone planning to daily drive this thing on highways...

If my guesses on the ratios are correct:

300 more revs at 60 mph than standard car, and 500 more revs at 60 mph than automatic.

Sure, but as more time passes upgraded packages are more expected.

What if GM takes 100s of deposits for the ZL1 1LE and then before most folks take delivery they announce a Z/28 that's faster? I'd think people would have a right to be upset with GM. However, if two years from now a person were to buy a ZL1 1LE and the Z/28 announcement were to come shortly after; that person would understandably be a little bummed, but probably wouldn't be justified in being upset with GM.

There's no doubt about that.

Very cool! That is a feature in my opinion.

You guys have got to move on with your lives. It's done, it's over.
Control what you can control. We will get to 100 pages of crying and complaining. Just let it go. It's all going to be a memory in a few years.
