Camaro ZL1 1LE Frustration

Is anyone else frustrated with the ZL1 1LE announcement?

When I ordered my ZL1, I knew of the possibility of track focused addition to the lineup, but I didn't expect the new car to compete with the ZL1 directly. I was expecting a stripped down version that I wouldn't have been interested in anyway.

The new ZL1 1LE has all of the bells and whistles, heated/cooled seats, dual climate control, etc.. as well as much needed wider tires, better looking wheels, red brake calipers, and most importantly better performance.

This car is going to compete for the same customers as the regular ZL1, ultimately devaluing all of the ZL1s that their most loyal customers already ordered. This frustrates me especially since I just took a $16,000 value drop on the '16 SS I bought last June.

It doesn't have the A10, so no, not frustrated.

All these parts will be available to those that want to add them.

Swapping the wheels, tires, calipers, etc. as replacement parts will easily cost double whatever the MSRP price difference is going to be and at the end of the day it still wont be a real ZL1 1LE... which makes it not worth as much.

It's basically a luxury, supercharged Z/28.

and ugly.

Probably priced in Z/28 territory as well.

GM has been touting the track capability of the A10, yet they chose a manual for the "ultimate" track car.

I ordered a manual anyway, but I think GM owes the people who ordered the A10 an explanation for their decision.

Yeah, I think there's a good amount of semi sad ZL1 owners who wanted a little more time in the sun with their cars. Other than execution, which I'm sure it does, intention counts for a lot in this market.

Very true, but I can pick and choose what I want on my car and it will never be a 1LE. I guess the big difference between you and I is you wanted and purchased the M6 and if I were in your shoes I'd be very frustrated too. In fact, I'm still a bit torn, but really wanted the A10.

Who knows, maybe a second one is in my future or a trade up, but I also didn't want to wait any longer .

Car manufacturers usually step up their game. This is nothing new.
I wouldn't be pissed, the 2017 ZL1 is still a damned beast.

If you want the latest and greatest expect to pay. Buy want you want and don't worry about models coming out. GM has people who's job is to make you feel like you do.

Stepping up their game is one thing, but their timing is terrible.

If they knew they were going to release a new ZL1 that competes for the same customers as the ZL1 they just released a few months prior they should have at least released pics and specs of the 1LE version before ordering started for the original. At least then their customers would have had the option of waiting for the better car.

GMs timing just screwed over a bunch of people, especially the people who ordered/bought a ZL1 with a manual transmission.

You have a 2016 with an LT4 then the ZL1 gets released which you order then the ZL1 1LE gets announced... I am seeing a pattern here. If you put an order in for a ZL1 1LE they'll announced the Z/28 lol.

Apparently GM is making it impossible to own the latest and greatest (unless you're Jay Leno).

People can't even take delivery of a car ordered in the first ordering cycle before a bigger and better version is announced.

That is my issue with all of this. Either announce the cars at the same time or wait at least a couple of years between announcements and give people a chance to feel good about the cars they're driving.
