+1 on the ride height and splitter. I have a fast car but have to drive it slower than my SUV sometimes on the real roads because I lowered the ride height for the track. I ripped one of my brake cooling ducts off getting on it too much with an indent in the road. I wonder if the ZL1 1LE will have the same characteristics?

If you don't frequent the racetrack, the 1LE package shouldn't be a consideration.

If you DO...then it should be an easy decision.
Fair assessment.

I may be the minority here, but I bought my car with intent to keep it and not resale down the road. You're always gonna take a big hit buying new. That's the name of the game.

GM doesn't owe you anything. End of story. You don't like it, don't buy from em.

They are doing US a favor by producing these cars and oh might I add staying at the top of the competition.

I ordered a manual anyway, but I think GM owes the people who ordered the A10 an explanation for their decision.
I'm fine with them only offering the manual in the 1LE. Gives me less to be upset about because I want the A10. I feel the reason they didn't use the A10 is because the 1LE has always been manual only and they didn't want to change that. I'm also fine with this new car because I'm not crazy about the looks of many of the additional pieces. The only parts of the 1LE I would like to have had the option to get on mine are the wheels, black tail lights, and maybe the wing. Still haven't made up my mind on the wing. Will likely need to see it in person to know if I like it better than the standard ZL1 wing. I also like the new splitter a little better, but it's not that big of a change.

I think I would still want the standard ZL1 even if I was wanting the manual, because of all the reasons stated above about the looks and also I like the adjustable damping that the MRC gives. The 1LE doesn't have that and will always ride more firm than the base car. Crazy that we can now call a ZL1 the base car. Plus the price of this 1LE is likely to be quite a bit more than I'd be willing to pay as well.

Just watched the video that motor trend has up, you'll never be able to tell the difference in performance on the streets, and it won't be the anniversary addition so I'm not upset about it.... It's a nice car thought

i wanted a bonkers dd, the 'standard' ZL1 covers that just fine. Much of the increased performance is from the new sticky tires that will probably be good for 8000 miles if used as a dd.

I can get a set of track tires and wheels for the 2 or 3 trips a year (if i'm lucky) but i will probably just leave it alone. It's cool that they are building this car, it those 1 off parts won't be cheap, and it won't be as good of a dd as the std car with the A10

I am getting my ZL1 for a top notch bad boy street car...... I am not offended by this release because I am street enthusiast.... My ZL1 will be all I want.... It will handle the few times I road course it, but that is not my purpose.... If your intentions are to primarily road course your car, yeah, bummer deal.... but we all knew something was brewing..... all good things come to those who wait.....

ZL1=street car that is track capable.....

ZL1 1LE=track car that is street capable....

Wait for the kit
They may sell the front and rear spoiler plus tires separatly.
Add it to your std A10 and paint the hood in black...
It may feel like tuning but same look for the exterior!

Current 17 ZL1 M6 owner here. When I saw the news hit yesterday I said oh great, already displaced as top of the line - that was quick! The more I thought about it though the less it bothered me. I don't track my car (the kind with turns) so the 1LE option doesn't give me any performance I'm in need of. However, it does provide wheels that I'd like to swap with as I've never been a fan of the super car like wheels on the ZL1 - I prefer the 5th gen wheels and these are lot more. I also wanted a sunroof so this would have been a no go from the get go. I probably would have gotten an SS with the 1LE package if it had the sunroof and 2SS amenities available.

I'm very happy with my ZL1 and those of you second guessing your order who haven't yet received them, you'll be very satisfied with your purchase. I think the only people who might have some regrets/anger are those with the intention to track it often. I can understand that as this is a quick addition while orders are still being filled for the initial year's production. I think I'd be a little pissed if a hp increase and drag version was offered in the same way.

Either way, I went into this telling myself that newer and better versions would be coming right along so we just have to suck it up and enjoy the beasts we do own.

If you spend your life worrying about the next best thing, you miss out on enjoying what you have. Every manufacturer comes out with something better, you just have to understand that. Being first to get something is still fun, even if something better comes out later. As for depreciation, that is never a consideration when I buy toys. I buy what I want, within my price range. If we chose our toys based on depreciation, we'd all be driving something else no doubt.

First world problems.

Tony

All the ZL1 owners lamenting this new model, I don't get it, unless you bought your car solely for tracking. I really don't see the 1LE model as a daily driver at all, so I say be happy with what you have, as its a fantastic multi-purpose car.

I don't recall saying that GM owes me anything. I said I think they owe the A10 purchasers an explanation, but I didn't order the A10.

The primary problem is the timing of the announcement. Most people haven't received their formally top-of-the-line ZL1s yet and GM steals everybody's thunder by announcing a model that's 3 seconds faster around the proving grounds... That's a lot!

Shoot, I don't know of a single person who has taken delivery on the A10. That was supposed to be the top dog... it won't even be top dog on day 1. That's the issue here. I'm saying to GM please be more considerate of your current customers. Either announce the cars at the same time or wait a little while between announcements. Don't take everybody's money and before you give them the car announce a better model.
