Slushy conditions in DFW area definitely are not the worst case, more typically and frequently problems here occur with black ice.

True, I do go over a bridge that gets black ice once every two years or so, and that is dangerous.

I have no experience with 6th gen but if it is anything like the 5th gen skip shift...you guys just need to drive the car like it was engineered to drive...and rev it out a bit.

Just curious, how many do you think you'd get out of the OE tires before it's time to replace them? I'm looking to get a 1LE as my daily driver. Will never see a track.

I daily drive mine everyday have almost 6k miles on it I believe the tires are about halfway through their life. So I'm expecting to get about 12k out of them.

Just traded my 15 1le in. Getting bashed a bit on the 5th gen forum... man some people don't know what this car can do.. I was looking at doing a cam headers package on my gen 5 when I test drove the 17 1le.. So many plusses on the gen 6! Mag ride is fantastic. The gen 6 turns in much quicker. The whole car feels much tighter and smaller. Acceleration stock to stock feels much better on the 6. You really feel the Xtra pwr and less weight. I also like the modern touches. No gas cap, touch start, Android play... this car feels like a sports car. The gen 5 is a great car but feels quite big.., heavy and wide. Forward visibility is much better in the 6 with the dips in the hood..I took a pretty good hit trading the 5 in... worth it? Absolutely!

Ouch. Ok thanks. I was hoping they'd last about 20k. Ah well. Just put aside $100 month to budget for tires every year LOL

220 treadwear means: 7200 * 2.2 = roughly 15.8k miles estimated tread life.

Tire Rack's tech info is helpful in understanding UTQG ratings and how they're fairly relative. Of course how you drive, alignment, and pressures make huge differences in tread life.

Sounds about right.

However, I did some extremely aggressive hot lapping on my tires this week at an auto cross school. I ran 13 runs with 1 min breaks between each so the tires look a little rough, but even with 32 psi cold it never rolled over the shoulder wear indicator. I think typical auto cross is 4 runs in a day with long breaks between. Even though the tire tread looks a little rough I still think 10-15k is a fair expectation. I'm at about 5k now and its still looks like its got some good life left.

Congrats, you will love it. I came from a Mustang as well...the SS 1LE is a MUCH better car.

I am about 45 min south of you...

Oh ok cool. Safe to say I should be able to get about 15k out of mine with just some spirited backroad cornering? There's a curve and nice straight about a half mile before I turn into my sub-division. I can't wait to take it in 3rd gear and see if I can hit 80 before I brake 😬
