That's been discussed as a possibility, that they held back on the ZL1 a little to make their performance package look better. As for the nasty first gear, the ZL1 has a much taller one than most 6 speeds, to mostly help make it easier to put all the torque from the LT4 to the ground through the 3.73 rear. Most 6 speed cars with a 3.73 rear would have somewhere around an 11:1 to 12:1 overall ratio in 1st, but the ZL1 has like 8.5:1, and is why it can pull 60 mph in first. I would consider the lower gear ratios as nasty, mean, what have you. Wasn't sure how you meant it, if you were thinking it had a lower 1st than it does, or if it's ability to pull 60 was what you were referring to. Now the auto has a nasty 1st gear of 13.395:1!!

It appears that's exactly what Dodge is doing with the New Demon. If you look at the size and height of this hood intake now they obviously went for a larger supercharger to get it over 800hp+

Definitely appears that this is no track car this is a straight line car again only got one that's going to eat everything out of the box

Comparing a precision instrument to a jackhammer.... for the money they will ask for that thing better go 9.80s. And I'd still pick the zl1... Because when the on ramp came up the Zl1 you'd be able to downshift and hit the apex without worrying about burying that hemi robbery hood scoop into a median.

It's gonna surprise us GM guys I believe. If all their hype comes true. Nitto special drag radials, diff gas options , it's a pure drag race car. Not sure about everyday driver or confort creatures .. May not even be a grand touring car anymore. I know some will say the Hellcat wasn't but I've been in a friend of mines and it's very roomy and comfortable ..

What does this logo mean on the window ? ADR?? Anyone know ?

I think it's fantastic if that is what Dodge wants to go after...I wouldn't be opposed to having one if I had stupid throw down $$$$, but for now I want a car that can turn.


Having a 9sec 1/4 mile is neat but if Dodge cannot make a $65k-$70k sportscar that can make times like the ZL1 at the ring...I'm not a player at the moment.

Agree. It's a one dimentional car and they seem to be admitting that now with this new variant of it.

I for one want the well rounded ZL1 and impatiently waiting for Canadian allocations to be picked up by GM... Anyday now I keep telling myself. Lol

Agreed it's one dimensional, as is the hellcat for the most part, but that doesn't stop them from whipping our asses on the highways, and we all know it'll happen. I just can't wait for one of these "habibis" to get one of these things and think they're king sh!t.

They have a "ring car", at least for the moment and how many times have you driven your Camaro around the "Ring"?
No doubt that Demon can go around a corner or they wouldn't be able to get it to the track. Lol
