So it's as fast as a Hellcat??? Last I checked my deposit was still in on the A10. I love the 5th gen ZL1 and this one is even more refined and considerably faster for around 60k. I can't ask for much more personally. There will be faster times posted. I'm not giving up on the ZL1 just like that.

There's no doubt in my mind better time's are yet to come. I won't be surprised when someone lays down a 10.9 at all. Can't wait to see some dig races.

It looked to me like the driver was a little overwhelmed with the options and 11 or 12 try's was not enough for him to decode the ZL1 launch riddle. The initial launch never seemed that hard to me.

The real question is did GM get their 1/4 mile results at a real 1/4 mi drag strip or just an use an instrumented test like MT and other rags do? It's important to know because the mph at a drag strip is averaged over the last 66 feet of the strip which almost always results in a lower mph compared to a instrumented test which usually gives the exact mph recorded when a 1/4 mi is reached. Also, what was the weather for GM's tests? That plays a big part of power output in a SC vehicle.
Just for kicks, I ran the numbers through a few different 1/4 mi ET calculators based on the race weight (vehicle, driver and gas) and rwhp and they came up with 11.4, so I believe GM's claim. Someone just needs to run one at a actual drag strip. |

Do you think this will still happen on stock rubber? I don't. If motortrend was purposely trying to run GM's number and the best they could do was 11:80s thats a long way off from 10s.

At a prepped track in good DA conditions its possible. Motor trend got an 11.3@126 in the C7Z and quite a few have hit 10s@129+ on stock rubber. I'm sure the 11.3 by motor trend was corrected as well. On an unprepped surface on stock rubber the ZL1 was probably pulling no better than a 1.95-2.05 60 ft. At a real track with some bite and a 1.7 60 ft thats an easy way to knock .5-.6 off a 1/4 mile time and flirt with 10s.

Now we are talking! I'm seeing 10.9-11.4 expectations.

![]() Of course IATs will increase...and if they were searching for a hero run, it stands to reason to give up once it gets hot enough... That said, 10-11 runs (or whatever it was) isn't bad at all for back to back drags before they *thought* they felt something... On a road course, of any configuration, the constant high-speed airflow, and coasting/non-throttle periods make for a much different environment than a drag strip. The car's gonna do fine. ![]() Back on topic....I can't wait to see what these guys have to say about the car!

As far as private owners running the number well you never know whether the car had been modded, tuned, weight reduction, etc, etc. With a few more Mag test we will have a better idea.

You also have to take into consideration that they were running on an un-prepped track and not doing any burnouts to warm the tires. It appeared to be hooking pretty well, but there were a few times you could hear the traction control cutting power as they tried different settings, so it had to be spinning.

i have owned a Gen5 ZL1, sill own a Gen5 Z/28 and now I have the Gen6 ZL1. No comparison in the cars, the Gen6 is faster, more capable, more complete of a sports car than any of its predecessor. This is much to do about nothing. Honestly guys. I can tell you that once you get behind the wheel of this car you are not going to car about these times. They are on stock tires, non prepped surfaces with no burnout. How many of you would go to the track an compete in those conditions? Road racing stories are not permitted in this forum so I wont go into detail but I can tell you that after my 1500 miles were completed, I have had ZERO issues with anybody pulling on me in my new car and that includes the kitty and the donkey. Relax and wait until you get some seat time in this car is all I can say.
