Mine never does it as well (any more :( ) I forced it by a couple times before I read up on it - dealer never mentioned on test drives or on hand off... Hope it’s not broken or serious if it is...

As long as I go above 2k rpm, I never hit the 1-4 lock. There are 2 skip shifts that you can install that I am aware of. Also, you can disable it if/when you get the car tuned.

I initially hated the skip shift, but when i would force it into second and third it would DESTROY my mpg. Like 6-7 mpg difference. So now i do it when i cruise and when i go hard it doesnt even bother trying to make me skip

My typical shift pattern is 1 - 3 - 5. Works best in city driving. When I really want to have fun, then I shift 1- 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6, Skip shift never comes on.

Same here. I seem to rarely get locked out, and if I do, I simply go to third. I shift by feel and sound never RPM. How are you suppose to hear your engine roar when you shift it at low RPM?

Mine has come on about 6 times since I have had my '16. I will agree that feature is annoying! I don't like it either but thank the CAFE standards that it's on our cars. I guess I tend to give mine more throttle when coming out of 1st gear. My modded 2010 SS that I traded had it tuned out but for some reason it would still come on at times. It was tuned with hp Tuners software.

Mine came on enough to annoy me into getting the skip shift eliminator. Best thing I ever did. I KNOW when to shift, don't need a car telling me that shit.

I may try to go to 3rd for conservative driving.. talked to 3 dealers around me, all of them mentioned that it will void my warranty if they see it... so stupid. |

It took me some time to get used to it and I finally did. When you aren't racing the car, shift to second gear before you hit 2k rpm, or pass 3.5k rpm and shift to second. Or if you take off fast it will not give you the notice... It takes time to get used to. At 15 mph in first, you're at 1.8-1.9k rpm. Where I mess up, I shift to third after giving it a second or two.

I'm finding the skip shift is not consistent as well. Will work all the time and then sometimes decides to not turn on.
I'm also finding the same thing with my hill assist. On some steep hills it doesn't turn on and then on slight inclines would turn on. Not sure who designed these accessories. Wacky Glad the motor seems bullet proof and is built in the same plant. |
