The 6th gen Mustang performs very well when compared to its competitors, direct and indirect. Are you denying this? If so, what is your reasoning?

'11+ Mustang GT's were/are faster than '10+ Camaro's at the strip. Does that mean the 5th gen Camaros were/are a joke of a performer there? I say no.

Feel free to enlighten me if I've made any logical fallacies.
I like this post.

Camaro looks to perform excellently, but let's tip our hats to its chief rival, without whom GM would not feel the need to aim so high. I, too, think the Mustang is a great car (and with a beautiful ass end), but it just isn't the one I want.

Models/trims built by Ford, not some 3rd party, include:

S550
Mustang
Mustang Ecoboost
Mustang GT
GT350

S197
Mustang
Mustang GT *(C/S, Bullitt)
GT500
Boss302 (LS)

SN95
Mustang
Mustang GT *(GTS, Bullitt)
Mach 1
Cobra
Cobra R

*these are pkgs on a GT trim car.

Companies like Roush, Saleen, SMS, Shelby American, etc. make cars using Mustang as a platform yes, but their offerings are not built in the same production line as Ford's units.

My bad. Guess Instead of claiming "40" I should had just rounded to the nearest dozen...

Mustang, Camaro, Challenger aren't sports cars. They're cheap performance cars.

The gap was closer than it is now and the mustang guys always talked like it was a beat down.

So that's kinda funny.

Other than that like others have said it performs pretty good. But it's not the car I want.

What is the definition of sports cars? I would say the S550 and the Alpha Camaro are really damn close.

I'd say once both the S550 and Alpha Camaro get rid of the already nearly useless back seats...the journey will be completed

The gen2 F-body was a sales bonanza with the same characteristics as this car. Less than ideal rear visibility with small trunk and back seat. Not a great family car but the back seat was enough for young children or a adult in a pinch for short distance.

I don't understand why this is viewed as a negative by some now. It is nothing new for this class.

I could fit in my '73 backseat better than my '99. I would put the 6th gen backseat between the two.

Close in performance measurements, yes, but not in character or in nimbleness. Differences that are still important distinctions if you're coming from the sports car side of the automotive hobby.

You'd probably have to have had some actual driving experience in something like a 1960's Lotus Elan - or at least a Fiat 124 - to fully grasp this. Today's true sports car would be the Caterham 7.

I'd imagine the biggest difference is customer tastes and expectations. Everyone wants "all the things" these days. People, non-enthusiasts, these days see that there are 4 "seats" so they expect 4 passenger functionality. They don't understand that these are 2+2's. . . 2 front seats and 2 conjoined upholstered shelves.
