Has anyone with the BCM update reported having their car stolen?

If you do that, MTV will have it on Pay-Per-View and crime will go up even higher as criminals will have to upstage to get on Death Row for the views!

I've actually said this for years!! Here in South Carolina, a Firing Squad is the new means of execution with five other states as the prisoner is strapped to a chair and shot with a rifle by multiple shooters. A medically trained officer then checks for any signs of life and uses a pistol at point-blank range to deliver a "coup de grâce" to ensure death.

This should be on a Pay-Per-View and the proceeds given to the victim's family.

OR... hold the Politicians liable as the criminals using their laws. Once you hold the Politicians making these lazy laws, will be the time that crime really falls away.

The BCM update definitely does not prevent theft. Slows then down a bit, but that's about it. If concerned recommend looking into additional prevention methods. Take a look at IGLA with addition of anti carjacking and diagnostic block modes. Might also pair with a aftermarket alarm such as Compustar.

Not going to stop them if they have an updated scanner tool as fast as we try to come up with ways to protect ours cars they move just as fast trying to find work arounds to make our efforts useless. Best bet kill switch of your choosing hardwire tracking, and at least 3 highly visible deterrents like steering wheel lock, brake pedal lock and OBD 2 port lock or tire lock

Until we make these people (Those Elected Officials) understand the ones paying the taxes, working everyday to keep food on our tables and theirs.... besides the millions they get in endorsements to NOT change the weak laws, nothing will ever change.

The way you change the Car Theft Laws is easy. You make it an IMMEDIATE disqualification for prosecution to the owner of the vehicle, if you protect your property by using any means necessary including but not limited to exercising your 2nd Amendment Rights, on the spot! I promise you, not only will this get headline news, it will put the fear back into these thugs who are doing the exact same things by carrying weapons to steal these cars because Society has been Brainwashed into responding, "Why Kill someone over something Insurance Will Pay for to Replace?" "Its just a Car..." "You can replace a car, not a Human!" These are also the people who either cannot afford a nice car, have never worked a day in their lives and certainly no someone NOT living off the welfare provided by others.

You have to make the change at the Government level. God Forbid I blow smoke out of my 1633 Lb/Ft of torque tuned Ram Truck... the manufacturers will pay billions in fines for that one... my truck would get crushed and massive fine levied upon me! See what is happening to the Diesel Brothers to know the threat of Tree-Huggers is real with an $18MIL Judgement! BUT... steal a car that destroys a family's means of getting to work... "nah, you're good. Sign this promise to appear and we will see you the next time!" Is perfectly fine by society.

The following States have a "Stand Your Ground Law" which allows exactly what I shared here WITHOUT the stipend of "Duty To Retreat" as other States include. This means, if you are in your car, feel endangered and unsafe... Do what you know is your Right to Do, Protect yourself, your family and your property.

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Stepping off my Soap-Box now. Thanks!!
I live in Texas my car was stolen in Dallas cops told me if I would’ve shot at the thief I could’ve been in trouble they don’t view car theft as a violent crime and since I wasn’t in the car I wasn’t in direct danger and since I live in apartment complex and the car was parked in our parking lot I couldn’t shoot him for trespassing. It’s crazy how the justice system protects the criminal. Leaving my apartment complex and moving to a house first chance I get because at least then if someone comes on my property into my garage it can be open season

If it was dark when it was stolen you could have legally shot him if you had caught him. Not saying I would have, just saying.

I'm assuming the same, but still waiting for someone to confirm they had the update and car was still stolen via scan tool.

Well, they are right. You can't just shoot someone for stealing something. Now, if they point a gun at you or attempt to harm you than you can use force. However, you never know if it were to go to courts, how the court system may rule.

I guess you probably need to relax your trigger finger and realize that you just can't shoot people for trespassing, looking at you funny, or saying something mean to you. I'm all for guns and self defense but whenever I see comments so reckless like you posted; especially the 'open season' comment, it would be best if people like you should not be allowed to have a gun and probably should be put on medication and therapy.

Sorry if I offended you, please don't shoot me.

Perry, who was working as an Uber driver at the time of the shooting, traveled to Austin in July 2020 for work, according to a statement he provided through his attorneys.

After dropping a client off, Perry drove his vehicle onto Congress Avenue and encountered the protest, which was blocking the road. His attorney said that Perry was unaware of the demonstration before encountering the group.

“When Sgt. Perry turned on the Congress Avenue, several people started beating on his vehicle,” the statement said. “An individual carrying an assault rifle, now known to be Garrett Foster, quickly approached the car and then motioned with the assault rifle for Mr. Perry to lower his window.”

Perry complied with the request, initially believing that Foster was with law enforcement.

“It has now been confirmed by several witnesses that this individual with the assault rifle then began to raise the assault rifle toward Sgt. Perry,” his lawyer said in the statement. “It was only then that Sgt. Perry, who carried a handgun in his car for his own protection while driving strangers in the ride share program, fired on the person to protect his own life.”

After Perry shot Foster, another person in the crowd began firing on Perry’s vehicle, prompting him to speed away and, after reaching a safe location, to call the police.

If you shoot someone even in self defense, you better be fully prepared for the consequences...
