That seems updated. I don't believe it said anything about security before.

Well I guess that puts a lot more weight into the security fix to help make it less easy to steal our cars.

Yes. This could be it. This could be the security software update that prevents keys being programmed by the BCM hack method and also stops external devices from being able to send commands to the car’s computer system.

Technically not a recall. Noted as a Customer Satisfaction Update.

See 6th Gen Camaro general forum:03-16-24 Thread starts there.

Titled: Okay, GM it's time you fixed this! JLR did.

He managed to get it in to service and replaced the display under warranty (I knew this wouldn't work). Then he got the radio mfg involved and they said they've never heard of any issue.

There are a couple different models in the Camaro's and best I can tell is it's the model with the Navigation system.
So my car's on the list for this recall and it is a 1SS 1LE without Nav and with a manual.

God bless. I would certainly be a "satisfied customer" if GM was able to help reduce my worry about someone stealing my ride.

I might go bite the bullet and have this done if it truly is a theft preventative update to the BCM. Anyone know if it’s safe to have done if I currently have a tune? Don’t want to drive it around without a reflash if not?

I'm at the dealer for this right now. I talked with the service advisor. Asked what the recall is for, and he said, "Have you heard about all the issues with these cars being stolen? This fixes it. An external device can no longer be connected to the vehicle so it can be started." (I'm paraphrasing.)

Ironically, we have indeed heard all about them and done our best to mitigate possible theft. This is great news, thanks for passing this along!

I got the update on 3/18/25. Seeing the comments here about security enhancements, I called the service tech and asked for details. He confirmed there is mention in the bulletin of the security update but was clueless as to specifics. He suggested I call GM. I can't wait to see the results of TurboC3s test noted above.

They need to make that VERY publicly known so any would-be thieves realize these cars are no longer so easy to steal...

^Agreed.

The service rep also said it' s technically not a recall and more of a customer satisfaction update.

Please do. I don't trust these guys. Always a possibility it's hearsay.

If the advisor is correct, this would be great. Fingers crossed!

This.

Hopefully this will save broken windows and other such damage from attempted break-ins.

I just got my Ampire Immobilizer (cheaper DIY version of IGLA) but have yet to install it.

Although it will still go in, I'd love to hear GM finally addressed this vulnerability! I'd love to go back to a time I could park in a lot and not feel the need to check on it frequently.
