MY Chevy dealer called me out of the blue to schedule an appointment for this recall. I pressed for info regarding what is specifically being changed and she didn't know, but the lady read the description she had, which included the words "important security update."

Just conspiracy, but if nobody notices a difference, I bet is some patch to delay the transmission problem until out of warranty....
The fact that its the BCM, doesn't mean that some settings in it can affect the transmission.

GMs Recall Update Policy on their website

"At General Motors, our goal is to always put our customers’ safety first, especially when issues arise like a safety recall.

When a recall is issued, our objective is to provide all necessary information and a clear understanding of what the recall is, how you may be affected, and what necessary actions you need to take."

Recent market observations would suggest that some manufacturers opt to deploy software updates as remediation measures, while providing limited transparency about the root cause, particularly in cases that could involve underlying hardware concerns.

This update raises operational concerns with regards to the Body Control Module.

That wouldn't make sense for the M6 cars that also get the update.

I have an M6 ZL1. The dealership just called asking me to bring it in. When I asked the girl on phone what it was for, she sounded annoyed I even asked. "You're calling me.. and just saying to bring it in. I would kind of like to know what it's for first." All she could say was to reprogram the Body Control Module. Told her I'd call back to schedule.. I came straight here to try and figure out what was going on.

It took me 4 different dealers and 6 different service advisors before I could find one the would actually believe me and compare his display in a trax with mine in the Camaro. The first thing he said was WOW!! what a difference.
He managed to get it in to service and replaced the display under warranty (I knew this wouldn't work). Then he got the radio mfg involved and they said they've never heard of any issue.

When the dealer called (out of the blue) to schedule my appointment for this service, the rep announced they were calling on a recorded line. They're obviously trying to cover their ***. The lack of transparency regarding what the 'recall' is for is rather disappointing.

Sorry for the side-conversation, but I had this exact issue when I first got my 2SS with Nav. I went to the dealer and they said it was normal, over time I accepted it but going from a 1LT to 2SS I noticed the almost washed out colors on the CarPlay immediately
