There are a lot of CC threads with strong opinions about the need for it, warranty issues, which one is best, etc. I have a few of questions...

The short answer is any boosted engine (unless it has a baffled head, similar to the Honda Type R design) needs a catch can/separator properly sized for vapor flow rate because blowby will accumulate in the intake over time, and in the case of DI engines, fuel doesn't wash off the valves.
The more boost and the harder you drive the car, the worse the problem is Worth watching, about 6:30 in |

I didn’t mean to stir the pot, I just don’t know what the issue is. I had an elite2 can in before and it work fine. Going to the Magnuson and SE valve covers my builder said the E2 will no longer work with this setup. So I got the MM, and just have had nothing but issues with it.

I already told u what to do, its not the can. Its the combination of the valve covers and and high vaccum. Just add a $3 reducer and your problem is solved. |

What's the reason for the Speed Engineering valve covers? I haven't heard of any performance benefit from aftermarket valve covers, are they required in some way for the 2650 upgrade? Or is it cosmetic (they're billet and have a nice logo machined into the top)?
If that's the case, and they're contributing to the problem, you should reinstall the OEM covers. Even if you solve this with a restrictor or different CC, adding a part that creates problems in a vital area of your motor seems like a bad idea. |
