Rears only take 30% (approx) of the load, so should last much longer, but worth at least checking anyway as part of the annual maint given the pads.
You bet, not sure if I’m going to do the job myself or not, but I have my father to help out and he’s worked on cars a lot more than I have

Updated: dug through my stash: opened the box to confirm: pic is right side up on my phone, but you can see the vented pistons and pressure seals in the sealed container.
Ordered the right ones from CarID, since Summit Racing is apparently out of stock until December.
Was able to cancel the order with Amazon without problem

Will be cool to see more data on temperature drops with vented pistons

Silly question. Just ordered titanium shims. Do these replace the plate on the back of the pad, or are they additional to the backing plate?

Additional. You just slip them right in behind your pads.

Best Regards,
Dave

GM did performance testing (which I will try to locate) which claimed a -30C (-86F) temp drop with vented pistons.

Yeah if that is true, it's very impressive and worthwhile.

I haven't seen any of this data, but I'm very interested now. Even 75°F is a huge difference!

Agree. And obviously individual tests will vary based on circumstances involved.

I had CCB fronts on for a while early last year with and without vented pistons in the ZL1 1LE calipers. Without vented pistons cooked the outer dust seals within a couple of track days. I put stock J57 vented pistons in, and, before I took the CCB fronts off, I ran a few more track days without cooking the dust seals.

I took the CCB fronts off due to my young sons running a lot then, so, I put steel ZL1 rotors back on with stock pads.

I have since installed the TItanium shims, and the SS 1LE (larger) brake deflectors, and had zero brake issues at ButtonWillow a couple weeks back. I was only out for 10 - 12 minutes, so shorter sessions, but was pleased with how everything worked.

The SS 1LE brake deflectors will scrape if running 18" wheels, and even if 19" wheels, probably not street friendly, mainly for track.

Best regards,
Dave
