I believe it to be correct. If it were flipped front-to-back the inlet and outlet would be in the wrong place. If it were flipped top-to-bottom, the air beeder would be at the bottom.

  • OEM primary and secondary radiators retained

Thanks, as always, for sharing.
All except for the last part. My engine coolant radiators are not OEM. I have a Mishimoto right aux engine coolant cooler and a C&R primary radiator. Honestly, I don't think either makes a big difference over OEM. The C&R primary radiator doesn't offer any additional cooling capacity over the stock radiator. (Straight from C&R engineers as well as confirmed with my testing.) It's just a little more heavy duty so to speak with the aluminum tanks instead of plastic. The Mishimoto units may be slightly better than the OEM aux coolers, but again, probably not a meaningful difference. (The Mishimoto aux cooler unit was present in both tests above.)

Glad to contribute!

It's pretty much perfect now, but you know me, I can't leave anything alone. There will be changes over the winter.

I'm not as ambitious as you are (not enough time and this is California...) but am probably close in leaving anything alone (I modify my home entertainment receivers, guns, blah blah blah, ha). This is all great stuff to know and see what works and doesn't. I'm not sure if I'll track much, but have always been interested in better cooling. I've been wondering what to spend money on next, and this might be it. HA.

You can see roughly a 50F improvement in engine oil temps:

Coolant temps didn't change much other than the car stayed a little cooler for longer, but plateaued at a similar point below 220F.

Post compression air temps were about 5 degrees higher than intake air temps. (BEFORE)

After removing the left aux cooler and installing the C&R upgraded center cooler, there was no meaningful difference in IAT2s (AFTER).
Thx for sharing all of this Travis. I now have a worthwhile project before the warm season starts up again.

So I am going through similar heat issues with stock blower and 18% lower pulley. I have all three weapon X upgraded heat exchanges, however have the stock primary engine radiator and looks like I will be trying out this solution.

Just to clarify.. Are you removing the stock oil cooler? Is the C&R Oil Cooler on their website a direct replacement for the secondary intercooler on the driver side?

I did not remove the stock oil cooler. I haven't been able to saturate the system with heat since the upgrade. If/when I ever do, if the problem is the engine coolant temps, then I may consider disconnecting the stock oil cooler. For the time being, I see no reason to disconnect it.

It's as direct as you're going to get for swapping a water cooler with an oil cooler. The fitment is perfect, but there is some plumbing required to make it work.

So the two new oil cooler lines go to the new CR oil cooler and to the sandwich plate connected to the oil filter. Is the oil passing through the stock oil cooler as well? How does the stock oil cooler play into the install after everything is done?

Also what is the heater hose and 90Degree fitting for?

Yes. The stock oil cooler config doesn't need to change.

It's unchanged. (Maybe I don't understand what you're asking.)

When the oil cooler is installed on a ZL1, the left aux heat exchanger is removed from the supercharger cooling circuit. The heater hose and 90-degree fitting are needed to hook the center heat exchanger directly to the coolant circulator pump. (When the left aux cooler is removed, there is a gap in the circuit.) I think there are some pictures of this in the google drive folder I posted a link to.

Perfect I understand now! Just ordered, hopefully everything goes smooth. I running more boost than stock so hopefully coolant temps don't change to much!

Just wanted to bump this to remind folks of the sale. (I think the free shipping only applies for orders $800+ though).

Again, I have zero affiliation with C&R. I'm only helping promote this because I have first-hand experience and the results are unbelievably good. I'm also extremely grateful that C&R made this investment for the Camaro community so I want to show them some support.

Travis, Thx for all of the pictures and doing the detailed data gathering on this. I just finished the installation & your pics came in handy. I am running the primary CATs and the 2 45deg fittings worked well.
Thx again

Next need to get C&R to make a larger A10 replacement cooler.........
