The can tune uses stock box and green filter.. which should be close enough to a CAI that needs no tune.. a big gulp or 5 intake is a different story and will most likely make you run out of fuel pressure.

This is my understanding as well. The GM CAI does not need a re-calibration to work. I had mine updated and this is what I sent Edelbrock. It should be fine.

Does the 97 have the LT4 from factory? That was my favorite of the 4th gens! hounds tooth interior?

Are you saying that you had got the GM tune (included with purchase price) done on your car for the GM CAI, and have read the car afterward for the file to send to Edelbrock? If so, then that file you sent them will have the different MAF calibration (from the stock SS calibration) for that CAI in it, that's what I was talking about.

There not going to do anything special.. its going to be tuned to run that eldow, the green filter in kit, and stock air box... if you add a cold air kit that requires no tune " a normal roto fab, a Cold air inductions, or the GM CAI.. it will be fine.

If you add any of the following 103mm tb, headers or a 5inch CAI " Roto fab big gulp, weaponx 5 inch, or other intakes that require a tune then go with a NON tune 2650 kit because you will need a tune now..

If you plan on doing this stuff in the future save the money on not getting a can tune and just do it now.. no need to was the extra money..

I suggest the following to maximize the kit..

low side dsx 900.00
lt4 injectors 500.00
lt4 high side $860.00
103mm tb $650 or the LT5 ported
headers $700 TSP
kong porting $1300.00

Well its complete and running. No codes and I can tell that the can tune is not perfect. It breaks up a little on the top end. I will be getting a custom tune in a few months. It pulls hard!!

Ck the fuel pressure low and high for the break up..also try with traction on and off .

Looks awesome!

Sounds good!

Imo you might want to delete that vid. Pretty much just incriminated yourself by passing a 35mph sign doing 101.

Well come to find out that I was making too much boost. I logged 14 psi and thought that did not seem right. I contact Edelbrock tech and found that the kit was missing a nitrous valve in the line for the bypass valve. The tune is only setup for 8psi of boost. When I slowly rolled onto it I had no detonation. When I stomped on it I had detonation. Hopefully this is the issue. Edelbrock tech did not have a reason why this was missing.

Yeah something is definitely off if your getting 14 psi out of that 4” pulley and the stock 87mm throttle body restrictor. I don’t understand any scenario where the bypass valve, no matter how wrongly configured, gives you that much boost. If you are that’s certainly impressive

If your going through the Map reading with software sometimes you still have to take that number and do some math for instance like altitude rpm and other stuff subtraction 103 ect..

I never heard of that either with a vacuum controller messing with the valve to create more boost.

I'd make sure your reading boost correctly and ck fuel pressure especially how your describing it!
