Yes, it is true that most '18+ GTs are not faster than all 16+ SSs. I am curious, though, what a publication like C&D or MT would get with a base GT A10. None were tested that I'm aware of. I'm guessing around 12.3 @ 118 mph. The PP1 has the lower geared torsen rear end, and the fatter, stickier tires, and drag mode, but the base A10 GT is something like 75 lbs lighter than the PP1 (depending on how they are optioned), which helps offset some of the acceleration gain advantages the PP1 has.
Edmunds tested a 2018 GT A10 against a SS M6

Camaro M6
12.6 sec @ 113.7 mph
0-60:4.3 sec

GT A10
12.6 sec @ 115.4 mph
0-60:4.4 sec

I also think what Newmoon is saying is that if you take the top spec. trim level (GT*, SS A10, and 1320) the SS is the slowest with its 12.2 sec 1/4 mile (although I couldn't find a 1320 mag. test after a quick google search).

So it all depends on how you look at it. GT M6 is tied with a 6.4 Challenger M6 (both 12.6 with the GT M6 +3 mph trap speed), the SS M6 is only 0.1 sec behind the SS A10/A8 with the same trap speed (consistency being preached by the Camaro faithful). The GT* is a tenth ahead of the SS A10, and the 1320, IIRC has yet to be tested by the major mag. publications.

My opinion is that if the roles were reversed, and the GT was the 12.2-12.3 car, and the SS was the 12.1-12.6 car, Camaro faithful would trumpet the 12.1 since it is an available option on the car from the factory, just as the Mustang boys do.

All in good fun.
You might be right, but I and many here give the GT pp1 a10 it's credit. It's not to be taken lightly and definitely not slower in a straight line than any camaro ss. Though it's still a drivers race. Being a manual m6 guy I'm obviously partial towards the camaro.

Or even when the c5 z06 originally came out with 385hp, and that was in the 2000s (though also way lighter and still a relatively quick car today)... anything under 425 isn't shit anymore lol. Good time to be a car guy!

I get that and have on many occasions conceded that this is true. The issue that newmoon and I tend to go ‘round and ‘round about is he presents this as though every 2018-19 GT A10 is faster than every 2016 - 19 SS. That is demonstrably not true, yet newmoon chooses to sidestep that fact. The majority of stock Mustang GT A10s in the free world are just a tick behind SS A8 and A10. But they are still fantastic cars, so there is no shame in that at all. The GT* has a little extra that notches it above the SS in 0-60 and 1/4 mile performance. But those are only in the hands of a very select few, you included.

I don’t know. It seems that most here give the GT* its due. I would like to believe that we would also be fair in acknowledging that if it took a special configuration of SS to top it, we would not arbitrarily imply that this makes all SS faster than all GT. It’s all trim-for-trim stuff. And you are right, it’s all in good fun. Even though I give him $#!t, if I were to run into newmoon in Michigan or NC or parts in between, I’d buy him a beer and have a blast talking crap with him.
Well we can have that beer and talk Sh!! to each other after we line up your SS with my Boss, we have to have something to talk about besides Camaro6 right.

Yea there's always 1 person on a forum who has no problems whatsoever.

But who knows, maybe he isn't pushing the car hard. Or maybe he pushes it hard for 1 lap and then goes easy for the rest of the time.

I’d say it’s too early. Let him get home and assess his property situation. Then fire away.

You're right. I mean, he could always get a heavily discounted ZL1 if something happened to his Mustang tho...just saying.

Hope everything is alright for you Newmoon when you get home as well.

In for beers and sh!t talking together, although I am much too far away (silly Canadians). I went to the LS1Tech SRK Track Rental last year with a few other Canucks...had a great time meeting a bunch of forum members that take trash talking to a whole new level. Had a great time the entire weekend, including drinks and food with all involved. Really hope I can do that again sometime soon.

Edit: We travelled over 3200 miles to get to that rental and back home
