Got my TB today. Installed in a couple of minutes! Pulled negative battery cable so it can go through the "relearn" cycle at the next startup. Startup instructions are very well documented. Will post tomorrow with results.

I posted this about an hour ago on the other thread.

Just got back from my "learning phase".

Step 2 - Completed without any issue. Although it had a rough idle at the startup, but went away quickly.

Step 3/4 - Partially completed. Prior to the start of the relearn, I contacted Mike about this step, my concern was having my neighbors complain about the noise at 4000 RPMs. I have an AWE Track Exhaust and it is a "little" loud. Nevertheless, on my first acceleration, it would not go beyond 2500 RPMs, so I figured it was still learning. So I went back down to idle, left the car run for a few more minutes. The second acceleration went to 3000 RPMs and no further. I had no codes, so I felt comfortable the TB was relearning. Turned the car off.

Step 5 - Started the car, without any issue. Although it doesn't specifically say, I think this step is more for A10 than M6. But nevertheless I went though the gears and had no issues.

Step 6 - Started the car, without any issue. Time for a drive, to give the TB an opportunity to graduate from elementary school.

Weather - Sunshine, mid 80s, little humidity.
Car was in Touring Mode "as recommended in the instructions", Rev Match on
Speeds varied between 25 and 70 on, In-Town, country and 4 lane divided highway roads. About half the trip the Cruise Control was active.
Total of 132 miles at an average speed of 48 MPH and a 21.9 MPG

During the trip, I had about 12 occasions, in which I attempted to stale the car from a dead stop, i.e., stop light, stop sign, etc. Something I was having a problem with, for both the OEM TB and TM TB. Needless to say, I couldn't. Although I don't think I did anything different, it would be difficult for me to say it was all the TB! Additionally I had on 5 occasions to test the response of the TB at, shall we say "spirited driving". It was responsive, crisp and clean and didn't have any "bog" events that I was aware of.

BTW, the last thing I did, before I turned the car off in the garage was take it to 4000RPMs. Had no issues!

Overall, I am very pleased with the Soler TB. Mike has been very responsive to my questions and answered all my concerns quickly. Thanks Mike for the great customer service and an even better TB.

If anyone has any questions, please let me know and I will try and answer them.

I am going to continue to drive the car for the next couple of days, because I am taking it to the track on Thursday at Dominion Raceway. I will post my observations about the TB during that event.

sounds like you have a manual trans.

so at any time, when you pull the clutch in and blip the throttle it is responsive?

Did it get rid of the sluggish heavy feeling from 5-25 % throttle from a stop?

EDIT: I see you have a ZL1, so i doubt you have that problem!

The M6 cars have dead throttle at low inputs as well, feeling like it isn't even connected sometimes...hit the gas a little and get nothing...wtf moments.

The Soler addressed this issue and put a big fix on it for me. After about 100 miles of boring relearn driving I said to myself that was enough and smashed it, redline is still there and the red light still works

Were you replacing a Mamo or Pray with the Soler? I am curious if there is enough of a difference from the Mamo/Pray style porting to the Soler. I have a Mamo (and had a Pray), and it was a good change, but not a total fix. Very curious if Soler has solved the issue, or just another incremental improvement.

I replaced the Mamo, and I really liked it but it felt like it was ported for WIDE OPEN USE only. The low end throttle response was very laggy and hard to get just right when taking off but was awesome from about 3K rpm and up.

The Soler TB is much more precise and linear feeling.

If this is the case then...someone needs to do a dyno test between the two and determine which gives the most tq and hp overall, more precisely:

1. at low speed
2. punching it in second gear
3. 4th gear 1:1 pull

I'm all about the Mamo and maintaining my warranty...let's see the results..

I had both TMTB and Soler TB.

My mind has broken this down to two interesting areas.

1. That initial moment when you lightly tap the throttle such as backing in and out of your driveway.

2. Low to medium throttle while driving.

Stock TB:
#1 You tap and nothing happens or it feels numb or delayed. I hear a lot of complaints about this but IMO it's an annoyance I could live with.
#2 You give low to medium throttle and the car feels very under powered and if you have your NPP disabled the car farts on you like you're in the wrong gear. This goes away after about 50% throttle. This is what I believe people refer to as the bogging issue and this appears to be less frequent?

Tony Mamo TB:
#1 Instant feedback, extremely responsive, no longer feels like drive by wire.
#2 Very little change for me. The car felt mostly the same.

Soler TB:
#1 Much better than stock, but less instant kick than TMTB, however it feels more linear once you continue with the throttle.
#2 Considerable improvement. I get very little bog, nothing I'd complain about. The car does not feel more powerful, but the amount of throttle you expect to feel from the pedal input now appears.

As an anecdotal side note: I swear my car is louder with the Soler TB. Startups are more angry. Mild throttle inputs are more angry. Previously I'd have to make very sudden throttle changes to get that angry loud exhaust. Now I get it when I do a medium+ throttle anywhere. I love it. I could be crazy and would appreciate it if someone could confirm this.

Customer Service from both has been beyond stellar. Both appear to be pretty active in the forum and both will respond above and beyond the call of duty.

Both are excellent quality products. Both have their advantages.
If you do not have the light-medium throttle issue, the TMTB may be all you need for that tip-in issue.
If you do have the light-medium throttle issue, Soler TB has made my car feel like it should have from the factory.

EDIT: There are a few threads on this topic. I may not have been very clear in this one, I added some clarity here.

I have a couple of questions regarding the install and relearn process.
How long did most of you disconnect the battery cable? Is it ok to just connect it long enough to do the swap?
Also do you have to follow the start up instructions or can you just take the car out and drive it?

Has anyone done the this short install version with no issues?

I think there has been enough controversy with the install and drive mode, that it is best to do the relearn process. Mike would not have included it with the TB, if didn't think it needed it. Can you...…..see angrybits posts about that and he will even tell you that he should have followed the relearn procedures.
It is not that big a deal. Install the TB and disconnect the battery before you go to bed. It takes less than 30 minutes. Get up the next morning, reconnect the battery and follow the instructions, which is nothing more than driving the car...….IMHO!

Yep. Can we get a smily-face for "This Guy"?

For better or for worse I tried to take a shortcut. I recall reading that someone else was able to skip the relearn successfully so I tried as well. (Read Here)

Summary is: Skipping the relearn was not a terrible experience but there were definitely quirks. I believe the quirks would eventually learn themselves out but I strongly suggest following the re-learn procedure.

As for how long to unplug: I know that unplugging for 15 minutes is not long enough. Overnight may be overkill, but that's how I do it.
