The V6 1LE is approximately 1.5in wheel well gap, too much for me. Installing aFe springs this week, 1 inch drop all around and looking to drop in some spacers...will measure for that this week...will post pics when done,

Not neccesarily. DSC Sport has a coilover kit coming out that maintains the MRC. Robert Weathers is running it on his 1LE and it is phenominal.

20MM spacers and trim the stock studs to fit. I run that setup on my daily driver SS wheels. Same offset as your v6 1LE wheels. It will get you the looks cosmetically, but I wouldn't trust them to be pushed extremely hard. I don't drive aggressive on mine because I run my OEM SS 1LE wheels and tires when I'm pushing the car.

Greetings fellow V6 1LE owner! I just bought mine and have been trying to figure if there is any way possible I can lower the car about an inch and still keep the awesome stock handling.

Are the aFe specifically designed for the V6 1LE? I ask because so far I haven't found any company that has tested their springs on a v6 1LE. I did talk to Ricardo at Phastek and according him when they tried their springs on just a normal v6 it didnt lower the car at all.

Couple that with the fact that no one seems to know what the spring rates are and the v6 1LE market being so small it feels like we arent going to have any options.

I also cant seem to get any clarification if the GM lowering kit will work on a V6 1LE and if so will it affect performance.

People have different uses for cars. There's nothing wrong with replacing the suspension system. What that entails and what the person wants will vary widely. And it's not necessarily done for car show purposes.

Then why buy a 1LE?
It's a "Track car". If you wanted a daily, 1ss 2ss are perfect options.

It's the OP's car and he can do what he want's obviously but IMO You've wasted your money buying a 1LE if your going to go backwards in the Mod game.

My research shows that the aFe should fit on our car.. Dropping it off this weekend, will let you know how it works, will post before and after pics... I did see v61LE spring rates in a post here

No question the GM engineers have done an incredible job on the suspension on the 1LE. However that does not mean that GM alone can make the car handle great. Based on your logic, race companies would all be tracking bone stock suspension 1LEs. There is room for improvement.

I think the big distinction here is there are show guys who just want to lower their 1LE and are fine with giving up handling, and then there are the guys like me who really hate the wheel gap but wont give up performance. It isn't impossible to lower the car and still have great handling. It just requires a company that actually knows what they are doing and willing to do the research. I was impressed with what I have seen so far out of the YYZ Powell racing setup. They look like they are doing just that. But I don't think they are done yet so...

I was hoping to not trim the original studs.. debating if to use extended studs, but the ARP 2" studs are $56 for a set of 5... kinda pricey!

I agree with you, I will take off the spacers for track days!

You only have to trim the non threaded "nubs" off the ends of the OEM studs for them to work with these.

Please do post pics! I am interested to see it. I am also interested in what it will handle like. I am not leaning towards aFe springs, (I am more thinking YYZ Powell Racing IF I get any) but it is still interesting to hear about the different brands.

Check out all the data the Pwel Racing guys posted about their springs...

To each their own for sure, we work to spend our money as we see fit and the 1LE is amzing..........at $6500 this Gen though....sure seems like a poor financial decision at best.
