I should add an argument for the V6.

It does sound good. No doubt. Check out NPP exhaust here:

I really considered a V6, 327 LSD gear swapped, A8, with a 75/100 Shot for track/mexico racing.

That Combo should beat 85% + bolt on-tuned LTG's.

Everything else is just as interchangeable. Suspension, brakes, wheels, ect..

Its almost like the go to crutch, as to why NOT to buy the 2.0T. LOL.

Bone stock, the I4 destroys the v6 0-60.. Why? Boost launch..
Roll race, once again, it will walk the v6 well past legal speed limits.
Why? Brake boosting. Literally the only time the V6 edges out the I4 bone stock VS bone stock, is in a strictly 1/4 mile race. Around 80/85 MPH the V6 start to catch up to the front fender, and just barely inches past by the 1/4 mile
Not sure if your comments were in response to my post but I was only pointing our the difference in power delivery. Never said one car was better than the other or "why NOT to buy the 2.0T.".

Drive both and see what you like better, simple as that. To me being faster in a roll race is of no consequence. But to some it may be very important. I had the opportunity to drive an I4 recently and will say that I'm still happy I went with the V6....but that's just me.

No. I would specifically call you out by name. Happens all the time here on the I4 board. Even among friends. It is probably the more brutal area of the forum (sometimes, Ok , most times). Was more of a generalized statement, aimed at the recent influx of comments referring to "turbo lag". I'm glad your happy with your 3.6. I considered it long and hard. I think I made a fair argument for the 3.6 as well, as to not be biased toward the much better choice in the 2.0T for the OP's particular stated needs ..

i went with the V6 only because i didnt want extra parts(turbo, intercooler)to replace in a few years down the road.having driven the 4 cylinder it is surprisingly fast, especially off stoplights.

Based on the variety I've worked on over the years, i think your assumption is pretty accurate. The older LY7/LLT V6s seem to last well into the 200K mark and i see no reason why the newer LFX/LGX won't also. But, the LTG has only been on the road for 5 years so we don't have too many high mileage examples to compare to.

Ironically, the V6 actually has a much higher parts count. Two heads vs one, 4 cams vs 2, 24 followers vs 16, two more pistons, connecting rods, etc etc etc.

Just my two cents.....the car is what you make it...I've driven the I4, V6, and V8...I personally like the feel of the I4 over the V6 and the V8 however V8 roar sounds better. So, I'm going to tell you like I did my buddy who just bought an I4 go out and drive the car and see what YOU are comfortable with.

that is ironic, but being a dinosaur im just not comfortable with the idea of buying a turbo or intercooler a few years down the road.i did enjoy the loaner turbo 4 i had for a couple of days, you would never know it was a 4 cylinder by its performance.

If you end up needing a new turbo or intercooler a few years down the road it means you didn't properly maintain or drive the car. Barring factory defects and outside influence i know of plenty of cars with original turbos and intercoolers still running past 200k miles and over 10 yrs. I've got no beef with anyones choice I4, V6 or V8 but i also know a ton of people who don't maintain their cars for shit and think nothing will ever break.

Just watched a 'car throttle' episode and they tore down a turbo diesel engine with around 450,000 miles on it... Original turbo (original everything) even after that kinda mileage the turbo still had service life left to give; regular maitance is key.
