It's interesting to note that many folks prefer the 1LE but a few pragmatic ones have mentioned that it may not be worth it.
I love the 1LE's looks, the black hood, and the recaros. The tires would be very expensive to replace as this will be my daily driver. Still haven't decided! |

Anyone have LS 1LE? was looking at the 2LT 1LE but the price diff was significant and the only thing that mattered to me that I'm not getting in the LS is the PDR....

That’s one of the cool things about Camaros (and Mustangs and even Challengers), there’s a combination for just about everybody. Have to think about what your most likely uses and gotta have options are. For me, the gotta have features were V8, convertible, and HUD
If you’re gonna track the car, the decision is easy. Get a 1LE and keep it moving. That or get a ZL1. For me, the most important element was I wanted a convertible. So that narrowed it down to SS or ZL1. At the time I didn’t expect I’d track the car much, if at all. Even though I have tracked it, I’m still good with not going for the 1LE. The 2SS has more capability than I’m likely to get out of it. If I was in the OP’s shoes, trying to decide on a coupe...2SS or 1LE, and I was certain I wouldn’t track it, I’d get a 2SS, maybe change the wheels out to the 1LE wheels. I’d keep the 2SS tires, though. I probably wouldn’t bother wrapping the hood. Stripes or hash marks, maybe. But that’s just me. Everybody’s different, and I’m sure there is a combination that just sings to the OP.

Biggest problem I have so far, is the suspension is so tight, pulling into my driveway the car will leave the right rear wheel up in the air as it transitions from the street up the driveway ramp across the public sidewalk. Time it wrong and the eLSd tries to lock up in mid air and it sounds like the diff is exploding. Got to get off the gas as the tire lifts up and have enough momentum to keep going and still slow enough not to scrape.
I've only pulled in four times so far so it's still a learning experience.

I just switched over to the SS 1LE camp from a 1SS.
As some have mentioned, the pros and cons will depend on what you want out of the car. For me, I wanted an elevated amount of track aptitude with a warranty. I will say this, going from my 1SS to the SS 1LE, I was not expecting that much of a difference in the feel of the car, outside the effects of wider tires and the suspension being a little stiffer: The SS 1LE feels like a different car to me than my 1SS. I was really taken right off the bat: -Yes, the tires are wider, so the vehicle/steering follows road imperfections more. Nature of the beast with wide tires. -The suspension is notably stiffer. Actually, I ride around in Touring when just daily driving. I feel anything outside of that is harsh for Mid-West crap roads. I could (and have in other cars in the past) deal with the stiffer settings, but I have a choice. Not complaining here; just stating what is what. -The car is overall more connected. It is another level above the SS. This is due to the changes in busing stiffness, bushings replaced with spherical joins, higher spring rates, the tires and MRC calibration. Moreover, you can feel the suspension working more. -The shorter-throw shifter is a marginal shortening, but I feel it is perfect. Nice little touch. -The Recaros are fantastic. Very comfortable (for athleticlly-built folks), have great support and look very nice. -The brakes are a bit more touchy, but not in a negative way. They also definitely feel stronger than the SS 4-pistons when you get on them. On a separate note, the HUD is so nice to have. I didn't think I would care much, but it is very useful. Overall, yes, the SS 1LE is a fantastic upgrade for someone like likes performance driving. It is WELL worth it. However, if you are not into performance driving (less drag racing), you will be just fine and completely happy with the SS capabilities - they are quite high in itself. |

One of the things I wanted is the HUD, but this time of year I find myself turning it off at night as it is pothole season and the HUD hides the potholes in the dark.
Things I was looking for in a new Camaro were leather, and Recaros were a bonus, HUD would be nice, wanted big brakes and tires, MRC and the NPP so the different modes actually changed things. Manual transmission with a V8, and the 1LE NLS programming is way better than 1-2SS programming in my mind. The 1LE is overkill for the street, but that's exactly what I wanted. If I could have built a car it would have been the 1LE except with long tube headers, and maybe toss in a CD player as I'm old.
