Michigan1LTRS, could you help by asking your dealer if they used TSB #17-NA-115 to replace the steering gear, or is there another TSB?

My car's still not fixed; and I'd like to know how your dealer initiated the replacement with Chevy. Thanks!

Yes sir, I will post up all info once I get it back. I do know they called GM direct and they told them to do it.

Ok, all fixed. Replaced power steering gear and set toe. Codes that showed up due to the failure were C0545-30, C056E-5A, C056-37. They did not reference any TSB.

Thank you; this is very helpful!

Somehow my car didn't throw any codes (but "service power steering" screen popped up) so I'm taking yours to talk to them. Hopefully I get the faulty part replaced!

2014-2016 Chevrolet SS recalled over power steering problem(Not Camaro - but related)

2014-2016 Chevrolet SS recalled over power steering problem

Not Camaro SS, but this recall shows the same everything as the Camaro issues.

GM has had these problems with EPS for years.

June 26, 2017

General Motors has issued a recall for the 2014-2016 Chevrolet SS. According to a bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration,
some of those vehicles could be at risk of losing power steering assistance.

The problem with the SS stems from corrosion on a device that connects the car's electronic power steering module and the torque sensor.

The device was manufactured by Mando Corporation in South Korea.

Depending on the severity of corrosion, the problem may cause the torque sensor to malfunction,
potentially disabling electric power steering assistance.

If that happens, drivers will still be able to control the car,
but it will become noticeably harder to do, especially at slow speeds.

That, in turn, could increase the risk of a crash.

Sound familiar?

What has to happen before they recall Camaro steering systems, too?

Alright my car's steering gear finally got replaced!

I lost power steering the 2nd time on the freeway just after changing lane (on my way home). I then drove to the dealer directly (really heavy steering but drivable). Luckily it was early enough the technician was still there to see it first hand. Car was left there exactly one week (7 days) and I just got it back today!

Code C0545 was found; after dealer tech communicated with GM, replacement was approved and part was sent.

My car has a layer of sand but at least it's fixed! Gosh I really don't like leaving my car at the dealers...

Thanks to everyone's help on this!

Very familiar. Here in Korea, the percentage of cars having the problem is quite high. even a guy clashed into wall on the highway, curb.

GM must recall it for Camaro!!

I've seen that same message briefly on mine. Only feel a grabbing issue or resistance when turning to the right. I posted this on another thread. They've already replaced the Rack n pinion and now waiting on a new column. Not sure what the deal is but its taking a long ass time since I began this in october with no resolution in sight.

I had the issue and posted about it. It was a loose connector.

Pull to left after replacement of internal transmission wire harness

Had a hard pull to the left after replacement of 24292226F-S internal transmission wire harness and second transmission flush for a shake/shudder issue. Took back to dealer and fix was reprogram of power steering control module per TSB 17-NA-115. Hope this is a fix for both problems.
