ZL1 1LE slight engine ticking noise

Hey folks,

I’ve got a 2023 Camaro ZL1 1LE and had my hood open recently while it was running. I noticed a slight ticking noise at idle. My gut tells me it’s the fuel system, but I wanted to include a video to see if anyone disagreed or thought the noise was concerning. Let me know what you all think, thanks!

I can hear it. I believe this is the High Pressure Fuel Pump noise that many owners notice from time to time. From your video, I would say your car is quieter than most. I usually notice the LT4 cars have less noticeable HPFP noise, I guessed this is because the supercharger dampens the noise.

Either way, nothing to worry about there. My car sounds like that too. Sometimes much louder. Every LT1/LT4 I have been around sounds like that. L83/L84 motors don't, for some reason, but the L87 (truck 6.2) sounds just like that at idle.

Or the purge solenoid. Everything GM has loud purge solenoids. Try unplugging it and see if it goes away.

But it sounds more like high pressure fuel pump

I heard someone on here describe our engines as having a "sewing machine" kind of sound. I'd agree with that.

That being said, I think mine has gotten slightly quieter compared to when it was brand new. Like everything's completely broken in now. (Or, I could just be used to it now!)

Direct injection engines make a clicking noise audible at idle.

If it IS the ZL1 tick, this is everything you need to know.

My video is in there somewhere

Sounds normal to me. Mine makes more injector/pump tick noise than that.
