rear cradle alignment tool/pins--needed?

anyone know the diameter of these pins? want to duplicate using another material, as they're hard to find. BMR says theyre not really needed when doing the delrin bushings, but idk..seems there's been some post-install alignment issues on here.

otherwise, anyone have a set they'd want to sell?

thanks again!

Not needed in my experience.

You can shine a light into the alignment holes and line them up. A bit fiddly, but very doable.

I literally used wooden dowels from Home Depot. But they aren’t truly necessary.

Do you remember the diameter? How tight/precise was the clearance with them?

I now remember getting them from Lowe’s. Cheap little pack like this… I don’t remember the size but I do remember buying several various sizes and then returning what I didn’t need.

Oh, and I remember them working exactly as needed. Snug enough to fit but still able to pull back out.

*Ps, I’m in Roseville and track at Thunderhill, Sonoma and Laguna Seca.

Hi, I found your old thread where you were looking for the alignment pins for the rear subframe.
I’m trying to do the same procedure now, and I wanted to ask you two things:
1. Did you manage to solve the problem in the end?
2. Could you please tell me the exact dimensions (diameter and length) of the alignment pins you used?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thank you very much for the dimensions, I really appreciate it.
Unfortunately I’m in Europe, so the shipping and customs would be quite expensive for me. I’ll try to find the CH-51034-1 alignment pins somewhere here in the EU, or have a local machine shop make them based on the measurements you provided.

Thanks again for your help!

Are you changing the rear cradle bushings? Not really a need for the alignment pins if done properly. I did mine in my garage and had no issues re aligning the cradle. Just be patient and follow the directions, you'll be good.

You can use wood dowels to help. Even simpler, use a white paint pen and make a bunch of witness marks where the subframe meets the chassis. Replace bushings and then make the subframe line up again with your paint marks. You'll realize that's all that's needed.

You'll understand once you get under the car. And if you're a tiny bit off, you can simply get your car aligned.

Yea the very small amount of slack is easily adjusted out in the alignment. Its a subframe not a rolex so don't overthink it.

Good info.

I didn't do enough homework. Didn't realize there was a GM provision for aligning the rear subframe. Now I'm left to wonder if the shop that installed my lockout kit aligned the subframe properly
