Front bumper guard (strip of rubber)

Is it expensive to replace? Should I just take it off?
Has anyone else ruined theirs? Thanks

It’s called an “air dam” and it should be fastened to the lower edge of the fascia. Worst case is it is riveted on. Then you would have to drill them out and re rivet. Nuts and boots would make it easier. Might just be scrivets which would be re usable as well.

It's held on with screws and is there for a reason. I'd replace it. They are like $20.

Both "inexpensive" and easy to replace.

I think the "kit" that has both sides is less than $30 and each side is held in by 6 or 7 screws (working from memory).

The screws are accessable from underneath. the only problem you may have is the clearance to the ground, but definately doable with common tools (7mm hex head screws). Might be easier on jack stands and with the wheel off, but not necessary.

Visability is an annoyance when positioning the new part up to the screw holes, everything's black, and it's hard to get a direct line of sight to line-up. You need to work by feel a little bit. Nothing so difficult that you'll be throwing tools, though...

Nah, they cost $20-ish apiece (left and right), attached by just a couple of bolts and thus very easy to replace as well.

I took them off because they look butt ugly, scrape on everything and are there mainly for some minuscule fuel economy gain. I installed a front splitter that makes up for any extra downforce these may or may not have generated.

The ZL1 has much better splats under the bumper, those I wouldn't remove, but these are pretty weird. I have two sets btw if you want them

They're one piece and held on by like 6 or 7 screws. I took mine off like Arpad said. From what I understand they were meant for a slight improvement of "aerodynamics" that I guess would slightly improve economy? I don't think 1LE's have them from the factory but I could be wrong.

There are two, a left and a right. Replaced both of mine last year. They are pretty cheap and they’re supposed to help with air flow and MPG.

My '18 looked just like yours by '19 so I reached under and ripped them both off.

This is the OEM kit, the two parts of which I already linked to above.

The best replacement for these is... nothing, these are monstrous eyesores that save only a minuscule bit of fuel each mile. They also scrape and damage very easily.
