Anyone know what stock ZL1 wheels look like under the paint?

I’m old school and prefer a polished or at least machined finish on my wheels. Any idea if the stock wheels could have the paint blasted off and polished?

You could get silver chrome done instead of black chrome! I personally like the black chrome look but am keeping my ZL1 wheels the way they come on the car. Tomorrow I have to see an alloy wheel repair for a chip on one of the spokes of the rear wheels that happened on Tuesday when I had new GY supercar tires installed.

Do a search CW3 for companies that do black chrome finish on wheels. Most offer a silver chrome finish too!

Could be a good winter project. I to like the "polished" look. Getting the stock wheels refinished could save a bundle.

Thanks for the replies. I’m specifically looking for polished or machined finish, not chrome.

Stolen from ZL1 Exclusive on Facebook. If you're not already in there it's the most active ZL1 group. I think they look great polished.

I’m with you. I think the machined ZL1 wheel would look great. I’m surprised they don’t offer them, unlike what Corvette does.

I like those natural aluminum rims. I really don't like the stock grey color. I prefer the contrast with the natural aluminum rims.

The Wheels look very nice polished but I still like the Graphite powder coated wheels better.

I've been hearing that for years but I also heard how it's not the most mature bunch and how bickering is much the norm there....
Forums have been dying for years but the dudes who stick around are who you want to take knowledge from...
I may peek my head there one day.

Another, easier option, would be to powdercoat them Prismatic Super Chrome. It's not a real chrome by any means, in person it's a muted chrome look. They're not as bright or blingy as chrome and it's definitely not close to a bright silver as they seem to look in pictures.

Attached several pictures of wheels I've had done in Super Chrome. The Audi wheels display them more accurately than the SLC.

Aluminum is aluminum, in this way, so you should be able to strip and polish it, and or powder coat to whatever finish you want.

Stock wheels are hard to paint/powder coat because of the design. I've had a wheel powder coated, OEM color, twice, and it didn't come out great - at all.

I'm on my second ZL1. I really like the wheels/rim design. I just do not get why there are no other options. On a 1LT through the 2SS there are multiple options. But on the 1LE or ZL1, zero wheel (OEM) options. That's what you get.
