Does this really add HP and Torque
I know this has been covered a lot, but there Dyno info shows a dramatic increase in HP and Torque,
And the people reviewing are all happy with results and some say no tune? https://www.phastekperformance.com/2...ke-evo7300.htm Thoughts ? |

That much torque gain with that kind of torque delta vs. RPM is implausible for an airbox change.
It looks to me that the "after" graph is with increased boost and a poorly futzed with tune at high RPM. The "after" torque crashes around 6200 and looks like torque plausibility or perhaps turbo overspeed limits being clipped and the ECM doing emergency torque reduction. I'd be thrilled if someone did a legit back-to-back test with datalogging.

Yes that intake works wonderfully. Multiple examples all over this section of the forum. Don't believe that dyno graph though. Using the "best" and "worst" dyno graph comparison is a great way to sell more product.

If I read you correctly?
So your saying there set up , tune and Dyno test are all BS, why would a company like that offer BS results to sell something that wont really do what there saying it does ? Don't they care about there reputation ?

I can't speak for the manufacturer's intentions. To me their published dyno raises more questions than answers, and as is so common with automotive aftermarket, there is no regulation regarding proving the products' claims. CARB is the closest it gets, and that's just measuring tailpipe emissions during their drive cycle, not WOT power.

I put one on my ss and the guy who used to tune it said get that crap outta there because it’s not doing anything. He seemed to know a lot about parts so I took it out. However I’ve heard many other experts talk about their benefits.
The topic is always ongoing, but I don’t feel like they help. I actually read more stories where they hurt the car. It’s all minor stuff of course, but I don’t think they’re worth it. |

I don't think there are any back to back intake only dyno's posted. All things equal, by design this intake will always make more power than the factory unit. The stocker heat soaks horribly on the 2.0T. Today at lunch, ambient temp was about 92F , IAT1 was showing around 96F IAT2 around 107F while cruising. Drove around about 30min or so and pulled in to get gas. In the time it took to fuel up, IAT1 was over 135F and IAT2 150F !!. The Injen Evolution intake is made up of layered plastic laminated in a phenol resin. So it provides a great thermal insulation for a cooler charge, and should resist some of that heat soak the stock unit exhibits. And everyone around here says they can actually "feel" the difference. Ive not seen any reason to doubt them or the design, and certainly wouldn't think it could "hurt" anything if installed properly. Perhaps someone with some data can chime in.

I wasn't being condescending, sorry you felt that way. Your post specifically mentioned the SS, not the 2.0T. Their airboxes are different.

I have the open box wrinkle black and I've prolly been the most transparent on my gains with mods and tuning as anyone on here and people will be quick to point out dynos are measuring tools and can be fudged. I doubt you will exhibit that kind of power from just their CAI however it's a good start to your bolt-on modification journey

It's all bullshit. These cars are so ECU and TCU sensitive, you are going to get zero gains from any bolt on unless you get a tune to unlock the ECU and TCU.
