Michelin pilot super sports or Continental extremecontact
what out of these would you choose for a SS with ZL1 wheels that is only street driven. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireS...SortCode=60158 Whats the difference between the Mercedes and BMW PSS other then price? Should I go with 285/30-305/30 or 295/30 all 4

Only Michelin can tell you what the specification difference is between the dealer spec'd tires. The MPSS and Conti EC and both the cream of the crop when it comes to ultra high performance daily driver tires. You wont go wrong with either one.

I had the same question couple of months ago asked Tire Rack rep and he said go with the Extreme Contact Sports.. I can say so far very happy with these tires went with 285 30 20 295 30 20 and originally wanted 305's in the back but was on backorder with NO ship date.. Dry traction is very good with tight steering , cant say about wet cause car stays in garage when it's bad

The Continental Extreme Contact is the newest version, the Michelin is debatable as the MPSS is still listed as the better performance tire over the new MP4S tire on their site. The internet reviews though are saying the new MP4S is the tire to have, for me it will come down to price and availability. I will be in the same boat in about 3-4 months, already have almost 4k miles on the 1LE and the rear tires will be done by the 7k-8k mile point. At that time not sure if I am going to only put rears on when the fronts will only last another 4k-5k miles or just replace the whole set. |

Michelin are great, had them on the m3 for years. New version is supposed to be better.

ECS - better treadwear, better price point.
Unless your tracking you don't really need the MP4S/PSS - and even then I'd be looking at Sport Cup 2s or other track-oriented tires.

Michelin all the way...the PSS was THE BENCHMARK for years and even now the others are trying to catch up to it. So the new P4S take things a step further leaving all other competitors as second or third tier choices.
I'm sure the Contis are good but they aren't as proven as the Michelins. So the real question is if the price savings is worth the drop in performance.

I like my Conti's. Though I do have wheelspin with them when doing a 70-120 run or even 80-120. Didn't have this issue on the Goodyear's. Wet performance with them is amazing though.

well the MP4S tires say not to be stored below freezing temps the MPSS tires do not say that. my car has to be stored during the winter and id rather not have to have a 2nd set of tires and rims to do it.
