trunk alignment
Just noticed this the other day...it kinda seems that the small part of the quarter panel is too high, if that's possible. Seems the trunk follows the line of the tail light, but the quarter panel does not. If I adjust the trunk rubber stopper down it's even worse. Any ideas what I can do to correct this?

Dealer can sort it out. You have no more adjustment on the right side up?
Be careful adjusting - it has to be close to perfect or you will get chips at the front corners on the body (below rear window). When closing the hatch, pull back gently on the wing while closing, or do the handle mod in my blog (see sig).

Thanks for the reply. My car is a 'vert, so the trunk lid sits next to the top fascia. There's still a good 3/16" gap. I'm wondering if there's any up and down movement on the trunk hinges where they bolt into the body. I know the dealership could probably fix it, I just hate taking it there unless I absolutely have to. Any more up adjustment on the rubber stopper and the trunk deck sits proud of the quarter panel.
I have the stopper adjusted so the trunk deck sits even with the quarter panel, but as you can see in the last photo, where the trunk drops down is a good 1/4" out of whack from the quarter panel . I'm wondering if the quarter panel was bent up a bit in the back corner before assembly, there's not much metal there and could easily have been bent up. |
