Chewing gum! Focusing on the horizon where less motion, but hard for people in back seats.

I thought the family would like mountain drives, but half the time someone gets carsick and it ruins the drive. We've tried bonine and dramamine. Most of the time it works but it makes them sleepy. Anyone have solutions? I have 11 and 14 year old sons and my wife and you never know which one will get car sick, but it usually happens right about the time I hit the fun part of the drive. Then it's a slow cruise back home. Any good tips out there? I can't be the only one with this issue.
I've learned to cope with loneliness and leave them all at home :(

Keep the car COOL, plenty of fresh air flowing...windows down or partially down.

Had a friends wife who ALWAYS got sick. She would be wearing her coat and a hat in a car with the heat on 75 degrees. Get the warm clothes off, keep the car a bit COOL and she was fine.

Some folks simply have issues no matter what.

It's tough, especially with kids. Like the previous poster said, keep the car as cool as possible with fresh air. Get the air blowing into the back seat. Take it easy on the hills and corners when possible. Try to drive as smooth as possible with as few jarring motions as possible.

I know it's a lot harder said than done.

Problem should go away very soon...my son was same way until he was your kids age. If they sit in the back move 1 to the front. That also seemed to help. Don't remember anyone getting car sick in the front
