How long was your dealer headliner install?

I'm having my headliner replaced. It had a small nick on the a-pillar right in my line of sight when I took delivery. Dealership has had my car for one full day now and they just called to say they're still not done. Just wondering what others have experienced in replacement times, and if anyone has been happy with their new one. Thanks in advance.

I'm having my headliner replaced currently due to a fitment issue. The dealership has been excellent with providing updates; however, we are now going on day four. Granted, they claim to be short-staffed, so, that may play a part in the longer time. I'd rather them do it correctly, than mess it up and force me to return it for even more work. While I do miss my car, thankfully they provided a '17 Camaro as a loaner

I had issues with my navigation that required the headliner to be replaced since they messed it up originally to get to the antenna. Took dealer 3 days.

That's an awesome loaner! I wasn't so lucky. Made the appointment a week early and unsurprisingly they didn't have a loaner available when I arrived. Waited 25 minutes for the ugliest '16 Malibu I've ever seen. The kicker: no gas in it. I'm starting to think this dealership hates me. They called me 15 minutes after their service department closed to tell me they weren't done with it yet. Maybe today...

I frankly don't get why these dealership always want to keep your car longer than is necessary. I understand over estimating the work time and then delivering the car ahead of schedule. When I had to have a rear decal strip on the spoiler, side emblem, and the upper front grill replaced the work effort was less than half a day - yet the dealer keep the car for four days and it sat in there garage for two before tackling the first two items. Then the Friday afternoon call comes in to say they didn't get to the grill! Well I then escalated this to the service manager and they rushed to get it out the door by 6pm. Simply amazing these guys don't know how to estimate their time and manage the maintenance efforts.

How bad was your fitment issue? I imagine its the fitment where it meets the front windshield?

that's my guess I think it's just a poor factory assembly measurement that they don't care to fix until the next tool refit.

I wonder if they have to remove the windshield in order to replace your headliner. I ran into that with my 2014 Malibu. If so, that can lead to its own set of complications.

Just got an update on mine after second full day sans Camaro. Dealership called right at closing to tell me I can't pick it up today. Said they wanted it to sit inside overnight. I'm guessing due to giving the windshield adhesive time to dry. I will have to wait until after work tomorrow to pick it up.

I really hope it looks okay. I'd hate to have to go through this again.

Wow, that's horrible. I'd return the loaner just as empty as they gave it to you, and raise hell if they charged my card for filling it up.

That's crazy! I do wish there was more honesty and care out of these service departments.

I did have an issue there, but the area that got the replacement approved was actually the passenger side near the C-pillar area.

Yeah, unfortunately. I don't particularly feel this replacement is going to change much, but we'll see.

True. That would explain the longer service times.

I feel for you! Hopefully you get yours back tomorrow. At least it's indoors for the night.

Picked my car up this afternoon. Headliner looks pretty good, better than I expected to be honest. Tested the plastic push pins near the back glass. The driver's side is snug, but the passenger side has a bit of give. I guess time will tell. Also, they washed it without even asking. Not sure how I feel about that...

Hopefully the windshield won't leak. A reinstall is known to have problems.
