Previously tried hard wiring a dash cam (Z-Edge) to my 2016 Camaro using this guide: http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=439766

Worked great but I immediately saw TPMS sensor loss in my front tires. Ripped all of it out and the issues were gone and have been gone for some time. I just decided to try out an alternate brand of camera, a Vantrue R2. This time I would like to avoid hardwiring again since I now suspect that the hardwire kits may have been the culprit throwing off excessive RF interference.

So I think I'm going to stick to using the included power plug with the camera. It has a super long cable for routing around the windshield but I was hoping someone has had some experience doing this already and had anytime to make the core as invisible as possible. I know I can tuck a cord into the headliner rather easy. Its the side pillars and under the dash that have me worried really.

Try this instead the BCM hook up.

I have it installed that way and never had any problems with it. Get you one of those converters and hook it up to the switched power in the overhead console. The converter hides in the console.

When the TPMS issues started I tried fiddling with it and lost the blue clip in that plug down the center console. Cost me 75 bucks to buy an entire wire harness from a GM parts shop to replace it. In the end I don't even know what interfered. I was just so pissed off over losing that clip I just sent the camera back and threw out the converter. So you can imagine why I'm not TOO keen on trying that again unless there is an overwhelming group of people that have a converter that doesn't interfere.

I needed a always on power source for mine since I was doing motion detection. I ran mine out to the front fuse box. I came down the front passenger side pillar, to the door, then through the quarter panel to the front of the car. When you close the door it doesn't pinch the wire. Unless you are looking at the door hinge when you open the door you will never see it. If you want to see a picture of it let me know.

I would have used the overhead light there but I had already did my radar detector there for the switched power. and didn't want to have too many things hard wired in there.

If the cable is long enough, run it to the rear fuse box and add a BPD device. I have 4 cams, all routed to the rear, it's a lot easier than it sounds, I promise. Both pieces of the back seat pop out, so tucking the cord away is super easy.
