Contemplating canceling..

..am I crazy?

The new new of the Camaro redesign is starting to wear off, and general impatience is starting to eat at me.

My dad having received his new order has got ants in my pants. I want something new, now!

And, so I start looking around at other dealerships to see if they have any stock. And eventually, my eyes wander over to their used inventory, where I see 2014-2015 Corvettes, LT3 with Z51, for like $50-$55k. I'm sure I could talk them down into the 40s....

Do I want a used Stingray over a new Camaro? I DON'T KNOW!

Tell me why I want the Camaro instead. Help me keep my order.

EDIT:

I love you all, but I just sent the email letting the dealer know I won't be buying the Camaro from him. If anybody in Colorado is interested, it will be delivered sometime to Medved Castlerock, vin# 1G1FG1R71G0119111. You can find the build sheet and price breakdown here.

Alas, the wait was too long, and the season is coming to a close. If I'm going to stand a chance getting a summer-tired car into my garage, I need to move quickly.

So, on my shopping list is a C7 Stingray 3LT+Z51. 7-speed manual, magnetic ride are a must. NPP exhaust would be even more awesome, but not required, to be on my short list.

Thus far, I've found about 10 acceptable models around the nation at dealer lots, all with low miles (less than 10k), all for around 52k.

If you can live with 2 seats get the Corvette. Even better performance and will hold its value better in the short and long run.

...The newness and novelty of having any car will eventually wear off, Camaro or otherwise...

Don't beat yourself up, though....Everything ends up as old news eventually...

This is something I looked into but $45k vs $72k is just too big of a difference for me

In a month, as soon as 216 starts, any 2015 used Corvette price will drop at least $4K. If you don't need the back seat, shop around for a 2015 Z51 and you will get much better deal than now. Then once the 2017 is announce, the $2015 looses even more because it's already 2 years behind MY. You can get a low millage like in 5000 for about $50K fully loaded.

Agreed compared to brand new but the OP is comparing to a 1 or 2 year old vette for upper 40s. I just saw a 2014 white 2LT 7 speed with 7k miles go for $48.5k at an auction last week. We are not talking about a 7 year old Corvette vs. a new Camaro or something. So, $50k for a low mileage Stingray or $45k for a new SS. I don't know, if you can live with 2 seats, Stingray.

To be fair to the vette the '16 camaro has more of a shelf than a back seat. However the vette is also pretty much an old guy car. Not trying to offend vette owners, the car has stout numbers, but it's average purchaser age is over 60 now. You need to wait and drive both of them.

I don't consider the c7 to be an old guy car. Older vettes, yes. Their primary missions were to compete with Porshe and to lower the buyers age. I believe they succeeded.

Old guy car? most of the vette owners I see around here in my area are not old guys as a matter of fact I see more women drivers than guy drivers but the guys aren't old

I take a vet over anything all day long something that's one or two years old low miles yeah I'm on that but then again I have no problem driving beaters in bad weather in saving the vet we're good weather days.

Also when I have my Corvette back in the early 90's before I met the boys mama I was like in my mid twenties.

Sometimes I guess it's the area too here and Dublin Ohio we have a lot of IT professionals so that would explain the young gals and young guys driving these monsters

The demographic for the Corvette is generally older because the car is more expensive and only has two seats. So, if you want a vette in your 20s then you better have a decent job to afford the loan payment, plus insurance and $1600 in tires for a vette. If you are in your 30s or 40s with a family then the vette usually has to become a 2nd or 3rd car because it is not practical. So, when a guy or gal reaches their 50s or 60s they can finally afford and justify not needing a practical car so a 2 seater sports car may have appeal. The Camaro just costs less, well maybe not as much as it used to, but it has a back seat for those times you may need it which makes it somewhat practical.

Look at the FR-S/BRZ. One could say the demographic for those cars are primarily 16-25 year olds. Why? Price. They only cost $26k new. So, should should only young people buy them? What about the Miata? Should only female hair-dressers buy them? I wouldn't really get hung up on the driver demographic of a particular car. If you like it buy it and enjoy.

At least wait until the car comes to make that decision. You'll fall in love as soon as you meet her.
