Drove it from work to dealer, no issues, but not taking any chances. I will post what the fix is as soon as I get it back. I was in and out with a loaner car in 10 minutes. Fantastic service thus far.

Maybe for you they got good service... Definetly let me know because I'm going on on Wednesday and never had it happen since I posted this. And going in for TPMS issues I've been having for months, but of course it's been fine for over 800 miles on vacation.

I sure will. I'm betting a bad sensor of some sort giving a false reading. When I drove it to dealer the steering was very smooth and no noises at all.

Yea you'll be getting it back with no fix or answer lol. I been to 3 dealerships over it with no fix. Heyve tried a bunch of stuff and replaced the one, but then all 4 messed up. Who knows.

Ok, replacing steering gear. They seemed to know exactly what is wrong with it. Be a couple days to get the parts.

Well, i was told this over the phone so I don't have anything. Best I can do is post the paperwork when I get it. In this thread some guys had the same thing fixed and they have never reported back to that thread that it didn't work.

Ok, all fixed. Replaced power steering gear and set toe. Codes that showed up due to the failure were C0545-30, C056E-5A, C056-37.

Wow thanks for those codes!!!!! I haven't checked mine since it happened, guess I should take a look. I cancelled my last appt for the TPMS because over 800 miles vacation and it worked FINE..was messed up for months and it's now finally working? Doesn't make any sense at all how it could fix itself, so when that issue comes back or I see the power steering issue again I'm gonna go in and check those codes. Thanks!! Keep us updated if any issues!! How long did they have to work on it for?

Parts came in from GM this morning, it was done by 10:30.

Glad you got it fixed properly!



Looks like the torque sensors go bad regularly.

The good news is the condition lasted long enough to set codes.

When it drops for a second, no codes are set, dealer says "cannot duplicate"

Lesson: Chances are, it is the torque sensor at fault. (70%)

Ok, so first off thank you all, you guys are the best! Love these forums.

So you guys know the background.

Brought it in for TPMS acting up again (all four replaced), random buzzing under hood (normal apparently), and for this power steering issue.

I did not have any CEL codes because it happens so fast like you guys stated. However, they found something online (I don't have the paperwork yet they have to hold on to it for five days) where underneath the vehicle wherever some steering X1 connector is...IT WAS LOOSE ALMOST COMING OUT!!! So they pushed it and locked it all the way in and they're really confident that was the issue and so am I. Now, this is so serious they're keeping the ticket open and taking it to corporate to investigate, might end up bulletining or creating a recall for this believe it or not! That's pretty sick!!! I was so happy it was this easy and simple though, first time I left the dealership feeling good in a long time.

Hoping that solved those issues, but we'll see, if it happens again then obviously they'll be looking into it deeper. Had to share this!!!
