So easy to love Camaros
|
Before there’s any booing of anything, it’s in Chicopee because we have a member who offered the use of a facility he has access to, to the camaro club for FREE and it was the most central free facility being offered. This member also arranged the food beer and some entertainment for a price we normally pay just to enter a car show.
So keeping that in mind, if there is another idea meeting that criteria and you’re willing to pick what Joe does to pull this event off, then by all means please speak up. This took the place of the Rhode Island Chevy Owners Association show which ran into problems and this became our new annual gathering. Hopefully now that you know some history you’ll hold off on the booing and look forward to this as I will look forward to meeting some old friends and making some new ones!

Hey Jay!
Yeah, I do remember hearing about the very generous member who makes this meet possible... I was totally jokingly "boo-ing" (unfortunately the joking part didn't translate, should've used more "smilies", lol) - basically 'cause while the event sounds fun and I'm sure I would have a great time, I just haven't been able to convince my lazy ass to drive 2 hours each way to western/central Mass, lol I do apologize, didn't mean to offend, sorry my comments didn't come across as I intended I guess upside is that now any new people who read your post now also the story and reasoning behind the NEC5 meet up & all the work and donations that go into putting it on.

It's not the venue or distance that had people upset in fact joe did an awesome job. There are a few things and they don't pertain to everyone jay and I'm saying this so there is no weird they just don't like us excuses being thrown around. First year i had no issue going i think the gathering itself was awesome but the process for voting seemed very shakey at best. 1st time issues i understand that so does everyone else.
Aside from trying to save money for CF7 in july i didn't go simply because the food the first year was a joke. I'm not judging the whole pig thing when we were expecting other things that was a bit upsetting but that didn't do it for me. The poorly cooked and run process for burgers and hot dogs was at best deplorable. I think my group had 1 decently cooked hot dog out of the 6 of us all the burgers weren't fully cooked some were even still frozen in the middle. So i can't say things were or were not improved the 2nd year but one of the group a new camaro owner did go and he experienced exactly what some of us have with the CT crew. This isn't all of you by any stretch but the good majority shut anyone they don't care for or know out and act like the CT stereotype you hear everywhere. It's no wonder some were kicked from the NY clubs... It's the all inclusive good old boy mentality most of the group displays that pisses us off and don't underestimate, i know my don't give a shit attitude pisses others off plenty but i don't treat anyone like garbage or like they don't exist unless we've had issues. Especially the newer younger crowd wether they drive a V8, V6 or I4 across any generation, the group just isn't very inviting as a whole i could speak of other times and incidents but frankly it's a huge dick size contest for who's better these days. Some guys won't even go to a show if there's no trophy or if they don't think they can win one. I've basically decided to do C&C and racing less bullshit and people go to have fun and chill from the start.

Listen to Scott Settlemire gang. Camaro means friend. Sheesh, it's amazing how even all of us with a common interest and love of the Camaro have these issues. You would think it's the government. LOL.
For the record, I like everyone and just wish I had more time to attend the events. Life has been the way the last two years. But my garage is done, so come by to work on cars anytime. I am not cooking though. LOL |

If it's that important check out y2camaro.com they cover most of the car shows on there. That's where I got most of my information outside of people linking shows last year. The issue with people linking is like Seekonk they link a week or so before the actual show eventhough they've known about it for weeks or months prior.

Here’s one to add Kevin.
Show and Shine, Sunday August 5th at the Budweiser Brewery, Merrimack, NH https://allevents.in/events/show-n-s...51337588466261 Also this show benefits Make A Wish. I have a soft spot for this as my daughter that had Cystic Fibrosis was a Make A Wish recipient years ago before she passed away. Last edited by Kopterman; 05-07-2018 at 11:27 AM. |
