Still not sure where it’s at in V6. Think it’s the puck but not sure how to disconnect.

How does the clip come off to remove the foam?

Its a squeeze and separate type of connection. I did the mod in the parking lot with just a pair of tweezers.

Did this to mine the other day to my 17 2SS. Slightly noticeable difference in sound...I do not hear any of the weird sounds people are saying with the A8. I'm keeping mine out.

I removed the whole tube and capped the fittings at the firewall and the intake tube. Looks and sounds a whole lot better.

Curiously you guys seem to love the sound tube but for Mustangs we were' all about plugging that thing or otherwise removing it.

Plug it is the way to go imho as the filter allows sound to pass only from what I gathered.

Removing the little filter allows air to enter which I don’t want

Is the foam there to act as a filter so big chunks of debris are not sucked into the intake?

The foam is a sound deadener only, not a filter. There's no direct air path between the intake and the sound tube. There's a diaphragm on the intake side that separates the air going into the engine from the air in the sound tube, but the diaphragm vibrates and transfers the sound from the intake to the sound tube.

Yeah, it's not much. Mostly it's just a bit more sound under load, kinda similar to the sound you'd get from putting a CAI on the car.

No, it's just a sound deadener. Air is not going from the sound tube into the intake.

Good to know

I tried this today, but all I kept doing was push that damn foam further into the tube. Now I can’t get it out. I guess I’ll have to wait to get CAI and just delete the stupid thing when I get one. Any way of getting it out without taking the whole tube apart?
