Car received software update from dealer

A few weeks ago my touchscreen died for a few hours. All the buttons worked but the screen wouldn't register touch. I had the car at the dealer this week and had them take a look. They said it had stored a code for it and found a software update to address it. Kinda cool I think that they can update the car's computers now for stuff like this!

8" screen. The paperwork says "refer to #PIT5461A. HMI software update. Code 8F254. The software information screen says:
Software - 84028481
Gracenote - 23199236
Map - 23346621

Thank you for sharing this!!!!! I did a quick search for it and came up with this:

"Intermittent Radio Resets, Volume Control Inoperative, HVAC Control Function Not Displayed, XM Not Showing Station List, Seek Buttons Not Functioning, CarPlay Map Too Bright, Front Pedestrian Icon Disappears, Infotainment Over temp Message, Momentary Blue Screen When Shifting into Reverse, XM Not Displaying Station List - (Dec 10, 2015)"

Going to to try and schedule an appointment with the dealer to update that, inspect vibration, and a possible weird clicking sound I hear coming from the back of the passenger side intermittently at interstate speeds.

Is it just a click or a rattle any time ur on the gas? I've got a rattle coming from my NPP butterfly valve on the passenger side when it's closed. I was able to prove its the valve bc if I pull fuse 51, the valve stays open and the rattle goes away

Well turns out the software update didn't end up helping. My stereo went crazy all weekend. I'm scheduled to take it back in tomorrow but now it's working right. I took some videos I can show them. Hopefully they will help

Fwiw I am going thru issues I posted in here "Here we go again" What happens is upon start up "Occaisionallly" what I get is a unit that shows no outside temp, all of my presets are gone, you cannot select any source (Media, XM, FM) column control does not work , cannot power down unit, DIC says "No audio". I took it in with it happening, really stumped them, I had them capture the data on a laptop so they can send to GM. They have ordered me a new head unit...will advise on results

Damn. Please keep me informed. I'm hoping mine will order a new head unit also. Mine doesn't seem as bad as yours but there are a few times when it's done this that it won't go to fm and it says it's not available. I sent them links to all these videos since today it was working normal when I got to the dealership. It's frustrating

Wow very good analysis, I forgot about that. I tested it and seems like when coasting the noise is there which sounds like a possible click/rattle and while accelerating I don't hear it, all of which would make sense (accelerate they're forced open, no acceleration and they flap back and forth). Haven't had time to try putting the fuse back in to further diagnose unfortunately and I'm here at the dealer now. They claim they didn't get my appointment I made online though..so enjoying unlimited coffee while I wait.. Don't really expect them to figure it out honestly just gonna have them check. And oh great..can't wait to go through that next..they need to make the updates available to us like Ford would do! Download it onto the USB and install it! Coming in each time is absolutely ridiculous and HOW are we even supposed to know if they HAVE any updates.

While I do not have any issues, I am sure the update is under "factory recall/update" so I will get it done Tuesday when I go in the dealership. Thank YOU for the info!!!!

My HU is messing up a LOT lately. Freezing, blutooth disconnecting, black screens. Called the dealer and scheduled an oil change/wash/tire rotation/ and the mylink diag. well see what happends.

V6 7in - non tech package

The car has been at the dealer the past two days. Got a call today saying it looks like the update might not have gone all the way through so I'll check the numbers above and update them if they have changed. They also ordered a new touchscreen so it sounds like all will be well soon! GM has been very awesome with warranty repairs on this car!

Good to hear, glad they are standing behind the Camaro! I have never had an issue with GM warranties, they are generally very good, sometimes just slow especially if they have to send an inspector down to a dealer for issues.
