Tighter is always better
What'd you tighten? If it just pops out and pops in not sure what's to be tightened. Wish there was a video of this and the wind noise before and after. Not sure if I have the same issue but probably do because I hear wind, but not sure if it's just regular outside wind..

Side mirrors bolt to the door. Have to remove interior door panel to access the 3 nuts and the harness plug to remove.

Some idiot backed into us in a parking lot, while we were in the car. Had to strip the door cpmpletely to get the ding out from the inside since it was right on the body line.

Great..well I have been wanting to insulate the door better for subwoofer rattling, maybe I now have an excuse too just dreading it. Every car has a different way to remove the mirror, wasn't sure how the Camaro is.

That's horrible!!!!! I'd have lost it..at least you saw it. Should have had their insurance pick it up teach me a lesson. It scratch at all?

Oh, I totally lost my shit. Their insurance did pay for it, but we did the work ourselves. Had to do a little blending with the paint, but you'd never be able to tell anything ever happened if you weren't told.

I'm around 15 months into my 16 SS. I have enjoyed this car but have had the whistling noise that starts around 43mph in my ear hole from day one. My dealer finally replaced my drivers side mirror this afternoon. Whistling is 100% gone. It's a completely different driving experience and I've never been more excited about my car. Took three trips over the year to the dealership where they replaced the triangle piece a couple of times. I finally took the panel off on the inside and started playing with the mirror myself. I immediately could tell the mirror was causing the whistle because every time I changed something with the screws and the mounts the pitch or the intensity would change, but I could never get it quiet. Then I ended up stripping out the bolts that attach to the mirror and it was time to get a new mirror. Luckily the dealer replaced it all still under warranty. Anyway, I know this solution has been posted for a while...I'm just excited in what feels like a brand new...higher quality vehicle. Don't accept the whistle if you have it.....so much better with it gone.

The same thing is happening with my driver side mirror, a hissing and gurgling sound appearing at 40-41 mph and present all the way up from there, with very slightly varying intensity depending on actual speed. Not overly annoying, but clearly perceptible.

Now I have a wild little idea, though. When taking a look inside the mirror, I noticed a cable sheath hanging loose behind the glass and visible between it and the mirror body, only on the driver side, the passenger side mirror is fine with nothing visible in the gap (and, not coincidentally IMO, it emits no noise). So I reached in with a thin vinyl trim remover and shoved the wire behind the glass, just as an experiment. Lo and behold, no wind noise for two days... then today I began hearing the same whizzing, and sure enough, the darn wire is back where it used to be, see the picture.

I'm not sure about all this, it is a long shot given the shape of the mirror and the noise pitch, the actual reason could well be some air gap between the mirror body and the door panel due to inadequately torqued bolts or something else, but I tucked the wire away yet again nevertheless. I'll see if this fixes it at least temporarily, and if yes, I'll remove the glass (when I feel brave enough) and strap the cable down permanently. The mirror doesn't feel loose at all and I see no gap anywhere btw.

Just wanted to throw it out there in case it might help someone.

2018's still have mirror whistle...Sad

If the noise stops, you have located the source (wire harness)

This whistling causes poor bluetooth microphone audio quality.

Many wasted hours spent trying to connect the two.

People stealing mirrors off other Camaros trying to stop it.

Again - not fixed or addressed - sad!

This month, visibility became even more challenging, however. Shortly after Carlos Lago’s celebrated return, I loaned him the car to record the introduction to his new program, “Daily Fix,” on Motor Trend OnDemand. I got an email one morning.

“Weird thing happened last night: Someone stole the glass off the Camaro’s side-view mirrors… They even took the time to unplug each connector instead of ripping them off.” Yup, it turns out this is a thing, and Carlos filed a police report.

The parts manager at the Chevy dealership said that this was the first Camaro he’s had to order mirrors for, “but the large SUVs and pickup mirrors can run up to $700 a pair. Yours will only be about $300.” Swell.

I have the same issue. They replaced the weather stripping and told me that this was normal. How should I proceed to get this issue fixed? My B2B warranty expires soon :/

Sounds like based on the other posts in the thread here you'll have to hound the dealership with your problem until it's really solved. If the issue isn't fixed it's time to head on back and let them know.

I hope they get it taken care of for you! Maybe referencing some of the examples here in the thread would help when you get back to the dealership?

wind noise inside the cabin ain't normal.

its the small weatherstripping aft of the triangular trim piece. lower forward-most point of the window. have that replaced and the 'whistling' goes away.

I know most of us are out of warranty at this point, but for anyone who is still affected by this issue, here is the solution that worked for me.

First off, the turbulent "whistling" noise is not normal. I have a 2017 2SS that is in great shape, but it had this persistent noise at about 45MPH+. They replaced the weather-stripping under warranty, and while it helped (pushing it to 55MPH), it didn't completely fix the issue. I brought it in several other times and was repeatedly told that the technicians either 1) could not hear it or 2) said it was normal.

Eventually I ended up talking directly with one of the techs, and while he was able to hear it, he wasn't 100% confident that it was repairable. Luckily they had a 2018 1LT on the used lot. We went over to it, and it had a ton of miles and was in far worse shape than mine. We took it for a test drive, and there was no whistle on either side. If this car with triple the miles and in worse shape than mine didn't have it, there should be absolutely no reason that mine did.

He wasn't entirely convinced that it was the mirror housing, so we tried the painter's tape method to figure out where the noise was actually coming from. We taped everything from the small black triangle by the window to the weather-stripping to the door's panel gaps. Almost all of them turned up negative, but eventually we found that by taping the front of the mirror housing, the noise went away.

It seemed as though the noise was coming from the small gap between the mirror itself and the housing. We tried reinstalling the glass, looking inside the housing for anything that was out of place, and putting thin adhesive foam behind the glass, but nothing worked. I had heard somewhere that it could be the angle of the mirror housing itself, so we tried reinstalling the housing a few times (some just bolting it back on and some trying to force it at a slightly different angle). None of this worked, and it ended up making the noise even louder and more noticeable (you could hear it at about 35MPH+ instead of 45-55).

After all of this, we tried putting on a brand new mirror housing that was paint-matched to the car. This worked. Since the new housing was installed, I have not heard the whistling noise once. I don't know why putting a new housing on fixed my issue, but I didn't really want to mess with it.

-- TL;DR --

The solution my dealership and I came to was to replace the driver's side mirror housing, and so far, it has completely fixed the issue.

Hissing noise when accelerating RPM 1000-1500

Does any one has this problems with their Camaro. 2nd gear rpm 1000-1500 there’s a Hsiang noise coming under the driver or passenger side. It can only be heard when the widows are down and a quiet residential area. It’s driving me insane. I took the car to dealership n nope typical they didn’t hear things.
