I jumped on a good deal for my 2018 because I loved the 6 speed TR6060 in it and disliked the 7 speed TR6070 that the 2019 was then rumored to receive. Even though the 2019 didnt end up with the 7 speed I dodged a bullet in that I like most people ended up liking the 2018 looks far better anyways.

Not saying youre wrong. Im definitely not an authority on the gen 5 small block or any motor for that matter. I sent TSP a Facebook IM asking for clarification and will post here their response.

Wouldnt have gotten any other car!
I haven't had my wallet in my back pocket in any of my fun cars in over a decade. Didn't even try with the Recaros.
My sunglasses go in the cubby where the 2SS has the wireless phone charger at the back of the console.

Carry piece stays in the Maxpedition bag.

Center console lid is absurd and the console space is a joke. It holds my wallet and garage door opener.

And here, right from GM, dated May 2015.

I use a cell phone mount from Proclip with their adjustable holder. https://www.proclipusa.com/product/8...-console-mount

Wallet and keys either go in the tub behind the too small center console or in an empty cup holder. I normally just pocket carry a Ruger LCP 2 so thats not normally an issue for me. Off base I normally keep a Sig P226 in the kangaroo pocket behind the pasenger seat. Easy to grab in a hurry there.

Good info! Thanks! Sorry for spreading misinformation. I thought it came from a good source. Almost everything Ive heard about TSP has been good. They must have just missed the specific model I was talking about.

They know their s#!t and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase an engine built by them, but they probably don't know every option on every model, and every year.

Ya, probably. They just replied standing by their original assertion that it did have AFM/DOD. I sent them your link to the GM press release and am waiting to hear back. This is probably just confusion caused by me over the difference between the hardware in the motor and the software in the car that controls it as someone mentioned here. I did originally message them talking about engine hardware afterall.

Might be easier to talk with them on the phone. There can be a lost in translation with emails.

They are right, the LT1 has AFM.
It is just not utilized in the M6 equipped Camaro.

TSP is standing by their assertion that the car does have AFM/DOD. Their quote "Every gm LT engine has AFM and vvt. Its not an argument. Whether its dry sump or wet or 5.3 or 6.0 or l86 6.2 or lt1 6.2 Its not an option Even the lt4 has it In 2019 they are possibly making it an option but not 2014-2018"

They supplied this article as evidence...

http://gmauthority.com/blog/gm/gm-engines/lt1/

I then asked this... "Is it possible that the motor has the hardware but doesnt use it due to the software that controls it in the 2016-2018 SS 1LE?" I posted a link to this thread and asked them to join in thinking they were on this forum.

To which they replied... "No its not. They all use it. It can be turned off via a tune but they all use it. We are not a member of that page."

^^ THIS

Take it from actual owners of the SS 1LE, the SS 1LE is manual only for 2017-18 and it does NOT have that function (software wise)

Not sure why, maybe it doesn't mate well with the M6, or maybe it was a performance decision, no clue.

The GM factory source posted above says that it doesnt use it so thats what Im believing. It makes some sense that the manual trans wouldnt use it. DOD/AFM doesnt know when the human driver is going to shift and change up the RPMs. Maybe that and the auto rev match feature didnt play nice together either. Im just speculating though.

My current annoyance list, 9K miles in:

1. The AFM hardware and the associated sounds (I assume, could be something else) that I hear from it. Or whatever makes the 'ringing' sound near idle under power.

2. Skip-shift, until I eliminated it a few weeks back, this got pretty high on my shitlist

3. Clutch chatter, even if it's normal from a dual plate clutch

4. Some sort of faint chirping sound coming into the interior from the engine bay that I can hear with the windows up that drives me batty once I heard it for the first time. Can't unhear it now.

5. HUD basically disappears with polarized sunglasses; not sure if that can be fixed with a better LCD or if it's an artifact of reflecting it off the glass

6. I still don't care for the electric parking brake

7. On some really smooth roads I still notice the grumble from the driveline on accel/decel

Mostly minor nitpicks, to be honest. I'm happy with the car.
