Second, it ran a HC which is good for one thing, straight line racing. Do the same comparison on a track with turns and watch the HC roll over on its door handles. Bottom line is the ZL1 is the more complete car and has better all around performance which is what counts. The complete package, that's what GM wanted and I'd say they succeeded.
Don't worry, when the ZL1 gets the A10 the outcome may change.

Now you want rules? You are talking about racing at a 1/4 mile drag strip correct? Well the COPO is stock from the factory and legal to race there. It is a stock camaro. Now I am sure you are not talking about street racing because that would be illegal. So why isn't that a fair comparison? You can even put drag radials on the fat cat.

All I'm wondering is even with auto vs manaul in this comparison it would be nice to see a nice "NHRA" style drag race

I think this video is a good news for ZL1 fans. Just need to see how close is the ZL1 before shifting. ZL1 comparations with the Z06 and HC have been very decent, the A10 will be as fast as the HC, and much more better cornering. Great product from GM, and it looks beautiful aside the challenger.

To be quite honest, since Hennesey has his hands on both an auto hellcat and a z06, I would really like to see how they stack up in a roll race. I know this thread is zl1 related but it looks like the hellcat pulled the Camaro at the same rate the Z06 did. Even though the ZL1 was a manual, not really what folks wanted to see compared to the hellcat, I was still glad that Hennessey did the comparison. It will answer some questions once that test is repeated with an auto ZL1.

That's like saying everybody who races mods their car and nobody cars how stock cars perform. The reality is that most people don't race their cars on any sort of track, and of those who do, most don't know how to get the best times out of their car.

Drag racing is not as easy as internet (used to be "bench") racers think it is. I've done a little drag racing. I've beat cars faster than mine, and I've been beaten by cars slower than mine. Talent does matter more than anything else in cars that are closely matched.

Im with you on this one.

I thought the ZL1 would have won even manual but man those shifts were slow and losing time.

I expect the ZL1 to be tied auto.

This vid is a joke oh that's why it's ( Hennessey)
this vid is so obviously stupid in the way they were shifting the 6 speed so now the Hennessey team can tune the ZL1 and then say after there tune the ZL1 will beat a Hellcat

I see cars weekly kiss the guard rails on stock tires. I hate to see that. The drivers of these cars think all one has to do is mash the gas and go but it's not that simple. Stock tires will get you in trouble if you aren't careful. I've done this thing for a while and still respect the dangers involved. Last thing I want to do is have to buy sheet metal for my car. I want the car to stick and go straight, as fast as it can. And my junk is a dinosaur by comparison to the ZL1. Now tht the ZL1 and the HC can pair up, it would be wise to be on your game if you choose to take on the HC. Nothing I'd like to see more than a ZL1 hand the HC it's backside. When that does happen we'll some people dumping their Hellcats.

You might have a point and those shifts are wayyy too slow. But this might sound like excuses..IDK, we'll see with all the reviews with auto vs man coming. Some guys are going to rock that man trans and break record I'm sure.

I am surprised by this video, I really thought that the ZL1 would do better manual or not. It looked to me that the Hellcat pulled it hard from start to finish and would have pulled harder if the race ran longer. To sum it up 57-hp is making up for the 400-lb weight differance?
