I've thought about pedal removal as a theft prevention measure as well. And easy enough to toss a 10mm nut driver into a convenient location in the car.

Has anyone tried to see if a sixth gen will start when there is no gas pedal installed?

I know with the Soler throttle controller, the "lock" setting to disable the gas pedal will allow the car move slowly when you place it in gear (with an automatic transmission, at least). But zero acceleration from the locked pedal.

Removing the gas pedal as a theft preventative would give comparable results?

you could just unhook the throttle body lead.... it'll run for 5 secs and die.

here is an idea. for your DLC hack prevention.
circuit 5060 is low speed can which is single wire communication
2500 and 2501 are high speed 1
6105 and 6016 are high speed 2

you depin all of those and move them to random locations that are not the stock location. then buy a DLC extension cable. reconfigure the wires in it to be a crossover cable that reroutes the wires back to the original location.
the cable becomes a DLC key. if you need to look into your car you use the cable but if someone else tries to get into it they will speed a lot of time trying to figure out why it isnt working and then give up on it.
the wire will be plug as needed so you just keep it at home in the garage until you need it or the shop working on it needs it. and since it was random per your own design then no one elses will be the same.

probably go to the car side wires and wrap them in a steel wire loom mesh that is hard to cut through and use steel tie straps like what cv boots repair kits come with. just to keep them from trying to go straight into the wire behind the connector.
